And what a fantastic result in the Traditional Set Dance, achieving a personal best and placing 9th out of 37 competitors in the 9–12 Years section! 🎉

He gave it absolutely everything on the day and danced with such determination, confidence and commitment. He truly left nothing in the tank! ❤️

We always ask our dancers to simply go out there and do their very best — and that’s exactly what he did. We couldn’t be prouder of his effort, his performance and this wonderful achievement. 👏

Swords & Sugarcane Competition 2026

Congratulations to our threes that made the trip to Ayr yesterday. They all danced beautifully and placed in all but 1 of their dances. A special mention to Miss Ida competing in her Premier national dances for the first time which she only learned in the past 2 weeks! We still have work but I loved seeing you all dance on stage. Thank you to the Lower Burdekin Celtic Dancing Association for putting on another great day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

NQ Premierships 2026 - Mackay

Congratulations Team BCD! What an awesome day yesterday. Dancers from Townsville, Mount Isa & Rockhampton all travelled to Mackay for the North Queensland Sub Committee Irish Dancing Premierships and what a successful day! We enjoyed many successes throughout the day including:

⭐️ gradings
⭐️ 5 x Premiership Top 3
⭐️ multi-town ceili dancing
⭐️ Most Promising Open Dancer award (congratulations Eamon)

A huge congratulations to our youngest today. Miss I competed in the Barrier Reef Championships in the 7-11 age group placing in all 4 dances and achieving 6th 🏆overall. She then backed it up and competed in the Pre-Champ 12 years and under and came 5th in her Swords ⚔️ Well done!!! We couldn’t be more proud of how you danced 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

NDA Exams Round 1

Today Makayla and Rebecca completed their Jig & Hornpipe exams with Miss M completing both Intermediate and Advanced and Miss R completing her Advanced.

Thank you for providing a wonderful venue Amanda from Ann Roberts Kilties. A big thank you our boys and Miss E from McCubben highland who came along to fill in for Grade 4, Keeley for volunteering to play music for the day and Meemar for taking Petrea back to the airport.
