Carrying on the recent Grand Final theme This is a 1989 match worn Andrew Brockhurst jumper who played
A pivotal roll in the reserves premiership of 1989.. Brockhurst was given the famous number 5 last worn by the great Bernie Quinlan in 1986 Brockhurst took it over in 1988 after the number was retired for a season…

This is again a special jumper because it is from 1974 the year the Fitzroy reserves one the premiership against Footscray and the club made
A significant change to there club colours.. 74 saw the advent of colour TV so the lions changed there colours to blue gold and a hybrid red and maroon to look better on peoples colour TVs.. This colour only lasted one year before they went to the full Red in 1975… I have done some research on This particular jumper and no one seems to have worn the 38 during 74 in seniors anyway.. Ray Brain wore 38 in 73 and AFL tables has him listed as wearing 41 in 74. I have put a 74 B&W pic up Of Brain and it seems to match ok so possinly he wore it… either way a great jumper from a pivotal change in the clubs jersey history and a premiership year..

Now that the Grand Final glow has dimmed a little I thought I would put up my Grand Final jumper collection to remind us of the amazing grand final history of Fitzroy/Brisbane… This one is very special its when Fitzroy were called the Gorillas.. Its a Bert Clay match worn 1940s jumper believed to worn in the grand final of 1944.. The day Clay played a pivotal roll in the ruck going head to head against the legendary Jack Dyer from Richmond….

Traded for this jumper recently…It is special because this design was worn in the bears first official pre season match….it is a clash jumper and has the screen print BB ..I believe this jumper was worn by Geoff Raines in that game Played at Carrara in Feb 1987 the photo is of Raines as you can there is a break in the line matching this one…The other photo is Rod Eade and is the clearest shot of the jumper design i could find in action..The jumper design was worn once against the Eagles in 87 and in all games against Hawthorn until 1991…

NFS/NFT Scott McIvor match worn 1994..Picked this one up of the brisbane FB marketplace it was sitting in the sellers cupboard for 25 plus years in a frame which only showed the back (I put a photo of the framed jumper in the post he wasn’t sure what he had).. When I purchased it I didn’t know wether it was going to be a retail or wether it was glued or maybe cut like some framers did in the day…I was pleasantly surprised when I took it out it was only stapled and in perfect condition, and it had the CUB and AFL logo on the front..I was later able to photo match it to game in 1994..Mcivor was a significant player for the Bears playing 138 games after crossing from Fitzroy in 1988…He was also one of only 2 players who played for Fitzroy the Bears and the Brisbane Lions…..A surprise addition to the collection….😀😀

On this day in 1995 in my opinion the greatest mark of all time was taken by Sean Smith in round 22 over none other than Richard Champion at the Gabba….It was also eventful because the bears had to win to qualify for the finals for the first time which they did….I have Champs 95 jumper in my collection which I have photo matched to other games of that season I believe (can’t %100 sure) he is wearing this jumper in the photo as Smith launches Over the top of him……Increadable Gabba moment 💪💪

Jason Gram player issue 2003 lions grand final jumper..Gram was an emergency for the 03 GF then traded to the saints..A big game player at the saints he was equal best on ground in 09 but wasn’t awarded the norm smith….A interesting GF yarn….

St Kilda qualified for the 2009 AFL Grand Final after tough Qualifying and Preliminary finals wins over Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs. St Kilda were initially listed as defeated in the 2009 AFL Grand Final by 12 points by Geelong. The match was then placed under further investigation. Gram was voted equal best player on the field in the 2009 Grand Final. [5] He finished equal on votes in the Norm Smith Medal with Paul Chapman of Geelong, the first ever tie in award history. Chapman was publicly announced as winning the medal during the presentation. It was later publicised that Chapman had won the medal on the countback system, despite the fact that the AFL cancelled its countback system for ties in all awards in 1980, which had immediately affected awards such as the Brownlow Medal and McClelland Trophy. Players who were not declared equal winners of the Brownlow Medal under the countback system prior to it being cancelled were retrospectively declared a joint winner, and presented with a Medal. Chapman was initially publicly announced as being awarded the medal on the basis of a greater number of 3 votes from the voting panel compared to Gram, with Gram being the only player to have received votes from all five judges.[6] Further investigation found that two Medals were released from the steward's office at the M.C.G on the day for the presentation, but only one presented.

At the end of the 2009 season, Gram had played in seven finals matches including one grand final and one pre-season cup final.

Something a bit different..This a Peter Worsfold 1991 That was Repurposed to training jumper for 92/93..If you look closely you can see where a large sponsors Panel attached over the BB has been removed….The fosters chest logo was also removed..

Younger brother of dual West Coast premiership hero John Worsfold, Peter Worsfold was a talented footballer in his own right, playing 155 games and kicking 132 goals for South Fremantle interspersed with 31 games and 24 goals for Brisbane.

While with the Bears he was a member of their 1991 AFL reserves premiership-winning team. In 1997 he was co-captain of the South Fremantle team which claimed the flag with a grand final defeat of East Fremantle. He represented Western Australia in 1994 against South Australia, and the following year against Queensland, both of which matches the sandgropers won
