Our bodies are unfamiliar to us and we’re figuring it out together; building back the fitness and function of our bodies in all their unique postnatal glory. Wobbly bits and all.

Postpartum hormones don’t reset overnight.

Relaxin, progesterone, and oestrogen levels may remain altered for many months, affecting joint stability, ligament elasticity and load tolerance.

That’s why “cleared to exercise” doesn’t mean returning to your pre-baby workouts.

Your body is still shifting, stabilising and adapting — and your joints need gradual strength-building to avoid injury.
