πŸ”΄βšͺπŸ”΄ 2026 Masters Swimming Australia National Championships β€” Chandler
Last week, 10 QIG Masters swimmers took on 98 events (yes 98!!!) at the Masters Swimming Australia National Short Course Championships and what a week it was. Racing alongside some of the world’s fastest swimmers, including Australian Dolphins and Cam McEvoy, the world’s fastest ever freestyler, meant the competition was fierce and the times were fast. When you’re chasing athletes of that calibre, it lifts everyone and our crew rose to the occasion in a big way.

The result? 10 records broken, 6 Australian and 4 Queensland, and 55 medals including 31 gold.

Every single one of you should be incredibly proud. 🌟

Records Broken:
πŸ† Stephen Berting (45-49) β€” 4 Australian Records (50 Free 23.67, 100 Free 52.46, 25 Back 13.43, 50 Back 27.87) & 2 QLD Records (100 Back 1:03.26, 100 IM 1:01.47)
πŸ† Brett Woods (60-64) β€” 2 Australian Records (100 Free 58.02, breaking his own!) & 1 QLD Record (100 Fly 1:08.18)
πŸ† Rob Chrzescijanski (40-44) β€” 1 Australian Record (25 Breast 13.57, breaking his own!) β€” a lifetime PB finishing 2nd behind Australian Dolphin Grayson Bell

2026 MSA Nationals kicked off today and our IGS Masters men found themselves in the lane next to history, racing alongside the Barbarians Masters team, anchored by the world’s fastest 50m freestyle swimmer Cameron McEvoy, as they shattered the Masters World Record in the Men’s 200m SC Freestyle Relay.

And while the world was watching the lane next door, our very own Steve quietly went and broke the Australian 50m Freestyle record for his age group on the leadoff leg with a 23.67 (previous record 23.85), followed by Rob, Hayden and Hermes all bettering their seed time to finish second in 1:36.72. πŸ‘

Good luck to all our Masters swimmers for the rest of the week at MSA Nationals. With three records already set by our team on day one can’t wait to share the full results when it’s all wrapped up. πŸ‘€

Stay tuned!

The last day of racing and our swimmers finished the way they started β€” giving everything. πŸ”΄βšͺ

Boston | 50 Freestyle | Place 12
Boston swam a PB in his heat to qualify for the B final where he bettered his time again and clocked the eighth fastest time of the entire meet, breaking the 25 second barrier for the first time. At 14 years and a few months old and bottom age for the age group. Let that sink in. πŸ™Œ

Ollie | 200 Butterfly | Place 10
Event six of six. A PB to finish his nationals program. Tenth in the country in the 200 fly. Ollie has been extraordinary all week, with the biggest program of the team, and today was the perfect way to close it out. πŸ’ͺ

Lachlan C | 100 Breaststroke | Place 10
A PB in the heats to make the A final, then tenth in the country to finish his week. As a bottom age swimmer having only aged up in the last couple of months, that is a result that speaks for itself. We are so proud of you Lachie. πŸ”΄βšͺ

And the relays to close out the week. πŸ™Œ

Boys 13-14 Medley Relay | Place 24
Liam, Rudi, Ollie and Boston. Close to PB or better. Every single one of them. πŸ”΄βšͺ

Boys 15-16 Medley Relay | Place 18
Lachlan S, Lachlan C, Dominic and William. Right on PB or better. What a way to finish the week. πŸ™Œ

That is a wrap on racing but we are not done yet. Stay tuned for a full wrap up of an extraordinary week for IGSC. πŸ‘€πŸ”΄βšͺ

The last morning of heats. Let’s go swimmers! πŸ”΄βšͺ

Ollie steps up for his final event. And it’s a big one! 200m butterfly. You’ve got this Ollie. πŸ’ͺ

~12:02pm β€” 100 Breaststroke

Day seven done. Three swimmers who gave everything on the national stage. πŸ”΄βšͺ

Olivia | 200 Breaststroke | Place 45
To race a 200 breaststroke at nationals at 13 years old takes something special. Olivia has raced three breaststroke events across this week and today she saved her biggest for last. So proud of this young woman. 🌊

Bronte | 50 Freestyle | Place 27
Twenty-seventh in the country in a field of 76 of Australia’s best sprinters. Bronte earned her way back to nationals and today she delivered. πŸ™Œ

Lachlan C | 200 IM | Place 17
Seventeenth in the country in a field of 45 swimmers. All four strokes, 200 metres and Lachlan delivered a top 20 performance. πŸ’ͺ

And between the racing? This team has been making the most of every moment together. The bonds built outside the pool are just as important as what happens in it and this group has shown us exactly what that looks like all week. πŸ™ŒπŸ”΄βšͺ

Seven days down. One more to go. Watch this space as we cheer on the red and white to the finish. πŸ‘€πŸ”΄βšͺ

Day seven - Let’s go. πŸ”΄βšͺ

~9:37am β€” 200 Breaststroke
After two strong swims this week our breaststroke queen Olivia is ready to show us what she is truly capable of. 🌊

~10:13am β€” 200 Backstroke
Liam closes out his nationals with the 200. Three backstroke events across the week, carrying an injury the whole time, and he has shown up every single time. πŸ™Œ

~10:48am β€” 50 Freestyle
Bronte has put in the work over the last twelve months to earn her second nationals qualification. Today she gets her race. πŸ”΄βšͺ

~11:38am β€” 200 Individual Medley
Lachlan C back for his third individual event of the week. All four strokes, 200 metres. Let’s go Lachie πŸ’ͺ

Day six done and the swimming just keeps getting better. πŸ”΄βšͺ

Ollie | 200 IM | 2:20.97 | Place 21
Event three of six and Ollie keeps delivering. A 1.65 second drop and twenty-first in the country. Endlessly proud of how Ollie has taken on his huge program this week πŸ’ͺ

Izzy | 100 Freestyle | 1:00.05 | Place 34
Thirty-fourth in the country in a field of 138 swimmers. A brilliant swim taking off 0.15 and coming oh so close to breaking that 1minute mark.

Keira | 100 Freestyle | 1:01.45 | Place 59
Fifty-ninth in the country in a field of 138 swimmers. Keira has raced hard all week, enjoying every second with her trademark smile and today was no different. πŸ”΄βšͺ

Ollie | 50 Butterfly | 27.87 | Place 37
Event four of six. Dropped 0.23 after racing the 200 medley only hours before. We genuinely cannot keep up. πŸ˜„

Boston | 50 Butterfly | 27.99 | Place 44
Forty-fourth in the country. Boston has had an extraordinary week and today he adds another strong swim to it. πŸ™Œ

Izzy | 50 Butterfly | 30.11 | Place 56
Fifty-sixth in the country in a field of 128. A great swim, only 0.04 off her PB, to cap off her individual program.

And then the relays. πŸ™Œ
Girls 13-14 Freestyle Relay | 1:56.24 | Place 37
Eleanor, Abbey, Olivia and Teagan took to the water together for the first time on the national stage. Every single one of them gave everything.

Boys 13-14 Freestyle Relay | 1:44.81 | Place 16
Charlie, Luke, Ollie and Boston dropped 1.72 seconds and finished sixteenth in the country. What a team. πŸ‘€

Boys 15-16 Freestyle Relay | 1:38.76 | Place 18
Dominic, Lachlan S, Freddie and William dropped 1.42 seconds and finished eighteenth in the country.

Relays bring this team together in a way nothing else does. So proud of every swimmer who raced tonight and thank you to every parent and supporter cheering them on from the stands and from home. πŸ™ŒπŸ”΄βšͺ

Six days down. Watch this space as we continue to cheer on the red and white. πŸ‘€πŸ”΄βšͺ

Tonight the relays begin and IGSC has three teams in the water. πŸ”΄βšͺ

For some of our swimmers tonight is their first time on the national stage. For others it caps off an already incredible week. For all of them it is a chance to race for each other.

~8:31pm β€” Girls 13-14 Freestyle Relay
Eleanor, Olivia, Teagan and Abbey. Teagan knows what this feels like having raced the relay last year. Tonight she brings that experience alongside three teammates making their nationals debut. Four swimmers, one team, one goal. πŸ™Œ

~8:40pm β€” Boys 13-14 Freestyle Relay
Charlie, Luke, Ollie and Boston. Four of our biggest stories of the week sharing the same lane tonight. What a relay this will be. πŸ‘€

~8:57pm β€” Boys 15-16 Freestyle Relay
Dominic, Lachlan S, Freddie and William. A group that has given everything individually and now gets to do it together. πŸ”΄βšͺ

Watch live on 9Now. Stay tuned for a full wrap after tonight. πŸ™Œ
