Really great to see the work the Somerset & Wivenhoe Fish Stocking Association are doing with their Logs for Cod project.

They’ve been placing hollow hardwood logs into local waterways to create nesting and spawning habitat for the endangered Mary River Cod. Historically our rivers would have been full of fallen timber and woody debris, which provided important shelter and breeding sites for native fish.

Over the years a lot of that habitat has disappeared as vegetation along riverbanks has been cleared.
Projects like this help bring some of that structure back into the system and give native fish a better chance to thrive.

It’s fantastic to see local volunteers, fisheries groups, and government programs working together to support the recovery of one of South East Queensland’s most iconic native fish species.

Efforts like this don’t just help cod — they improve the entire river ecosystem. 👏🐟

Jebel with an another beast of a giant snakehead, this time on the Gold Monsoon Spinner.
I want to point out this one and also the previous monster he picked up were both caught using the standard size hook that we use for australian bass, which is a testiment to the punishment BKK hooks can take.

Dion got stuck into some serious fish on the Kaiju spinnerbaits over the weekend 💥
Him and a mate put 23 fish on the board for the session.

Dion also smashed a new PB yellow, measuring in at a chunky 55cm. 😤🐟🔥
Nice work, congrats, mate!

For some reason it's really hard to get a good photo of the blue colour shift on the white on white Monsoon Spinner, but in the right light boy does it pop.
This colour is quickly becoming a favourite amongst the native species.

Really great to see this kind of success locally. Huge credit to everyone involved for making it happen — it’s awesome to see all that effort starting to pay off and native species moving freely again. Projects like this make a real difference to the health of our waterways and local fisheries.

Yellow over purple with the UV reactive paint is becoming very popular colour across all native species. They cant hide from the Kaiju.
