ICYS Ipswich Community Youth Service

Great meeting with the team at GCTC yesterday and learning more about what they’re doing to support the next generation of skilled tradespeople 👷🏽
With their new campus opening in Ipswich, it’s exciting to see more opportunities being created for young people in the Ipswich and surrounding regions to get into the trades and build a career in construction and automotive ⚒️
The trades are such an important part of Australia’s future and initiatives like this are helping make training and career pathways more accessible to the local community.
Looking forward to seeing the Ipswich campus grow and the impact it will have on the local industry 👏🏼

Who let these two out together 😅 In all seriousness, Andrew and Gav bring so many good vibes to Team ICYS that it makes sense they rep the team at today’s Wellbeing Expo at Ripley Valley State Secondary College! If you’re lucky enough to drop past the ICYS stall, you’ll understand why these two are wellbeing legends at ICYS 🤙🏽

💜 COLOURS OF COURAGE 💜

Check out this incredible artwork created by talented student HL from one of ICYS’ partner schools, QPSC, in celebration of Wear it Purple Day – Colours of Courage last Friday!

HL was excited to share their artwork with their ICYS Student Wellbeing Worker, Loren, and explain some of the key details woven throughout the piece:

🌈 The scarf features the different LGBTIQA+ flags
🤝 The front of the shirt features the Unity Pride Flag
🏳️‍⚧️ The hair and t-shirt incorporate the colours of the Trans Flag

And the best part? HL’s artwork is now proudly on display at the school! 🙌

A huge thank you to QPSC for partnering with ICYS to champion young people in their endeavours and passions, share what matters to them and have their talents celebrated.

And most importantly thank you, HL, for sharing your creativity and this wonderful piece of art with us 💜🌈

You can view all roles here: https://au.seek.com/icys-jobs, or via the individual links below:

1️⃣ Young Family Support Worker: https://tinyurl.com/n2hp4btf

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Young Family Support Worker to join our Family Support Worker Program, working within the Young Families Connect (YFC) program at Ipswich State High School.
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside pregnant and parenting young people, providing practical, relationship-based support that strengthens parenting capacity, supports continued engagement in education and supports young families to build greater stability and independence.

2️⃣ Youth Case Managers: https://tinyurl.com/z2w44fra

We currently have three opportunities across three of our specialist youth programs, supporting young people experiencing complex challenges including disengagement from education, homelessness, family and social disconnection, involvement with the Youth Justice system and other factors impacting their safety, wellbeing and future.
Rather than asking you to decide which program is right for you, apply once and tell us what you bring.
We'll recruit across the three vacancies together and work with shortlisted applicants through the interview process to identify the role and program that best aligns with their experience, qualifications, specialist knowledge, strengths and career interests.

3️⃣ Youth Activities Worker (Youth Engagement & Outreach) - https://tinyurl.com/2zem3ap5

Based at the ICYS Ipswich Youth Hub, the Youth Activities Worker will design, plan and facilitate weekly activities, school holiday programs and community engagement opportunities for young people accessing ICYS services and across the wider Ipswich, Somerset and Lockyer Valley communities.
Importantly, activities aren't simply planned for young people. You'll listen to their ideas, interests and feedback and use these to help create programs that are relevant, engaging and meaningful.
You'll also work as part of ICYS' after-hours Street Outreach team, supporting groups of young people to access pro-social activities designed to strengthen connection, promote wellbeing and divert young people from involvement with Police and the youth justice system.
