Round 3 Recap
Photos:

Unfortunately not the best weekend for us, quite a few issues leaving us to finish only three races combined between Jeff & Leighton.

Race 1: Leighton's kart would suffer an electrical issue and die on the formation lap, meaning he wouldn't start.
Jeff had a solid race, getting used to some changes made between rounds and improving his laptimes, finishing P4 in NGB lights.

Race 2:
Leighton had a great start after starting last, moving up to P2 in lights around the outside of the first corner. The rest of the race was an intense battle that saw Leighton take out 1st in Lights by one one hundredth of a second. #33 Dave Dyson took the overall win in Rotax, with the top three covered by two tenths of a second.
Jeff had yet another solid race, putting in some PB sectors, showing a very promising potential lap time. He came home 5th in Lights.

Race 3:
Leighton again would be unable to start, as after making it to the dummy grid his battery died, unable to get the kart started again.
Jeff would get his first DNF of the weekend, after vibrations from running over a kerb brought back nosecone issues, forcing him to retire.

Race 4:
Leighton again would start from last, but was soon up the front battling for the Rotax lead. Unfortunately he had some temporary issues after running over a kerb that caused him to drop back, leaving him with a partially stuck throttle once he got power back. Leighton began making his way back through the NGB field to P3 in Lights, P4 overall, not expecting to be able to make it further when #33 and #77 suddenly tangled. #33 and Leighton made a charge for #12, the lone leader well up the road, managing to catch him with only a few laps to go. The battle was heating up, all three nose to tail going into the last lap. Unfortunately Leighton made a mistake and just put two wheels on the turn 2 exit kerb, which threw the chain off, another disappointing DNF for #45.
Jeff was unfortunately unable to start the last race due too the extent of the damage done to his kart by the kerbs. However, he did kindly give Leighton his battery, allowing him to start the last race.

Not the best qualifying, P7 of 13 in the class

We'll make some changes to the kart and hopefully have a solid race 1!

Only one day until 2021's racing kicks off!

A massive NGB field and some wet weather forecast should make plenty of exciting racing

Leighton had an awesome back and forth battle with David Dyson in Race 4, making moves at every corner at least once. The gap ended up being only 0.005 seconds between the two, a real photo finish!

Jeff wasn unfortunately unable to start the race, as we weren't able to find a fix for the nosecone at the track.

Slightly disappointing first three races for us.
Jeff had nosecone issues all day and wouldn't be able to start any of the races.
Leighton started last for the first race, finishing 2nd in Rotax, unable to match the pace of 1st place David.
In Race 2 Leighton got a great start putting himself straight into the battle for 1st in Rotax, overtaking 4 karts into turn 1. However after a few laps he had engine troubles and unfortunately DNF'd.
Starting from last again for Race 3 Leighton came home 3rd in Rotax, joining the battle for 1st early on but got help up by a 250 recovering from a mad start and was unable to close the gap back up.
The final race of the day will be a longer 10 laps, with Leighton to start 3rd in Rotax, Jeff again sadly won't be able to start.

Unfourtunately issue for both karts means we'll be starting off the back row. Leighton had no brakes while Jeff's nosecone came lose, neither driver getting to set a lap time

ROUND ONE RECAP

After 10 months off the 2020 Queensland Superkart Series finally kicked off last weekend, with Round One being ran across one day at Queensland Raceway.

Our weekend started off on Friday with general practice, using the six sessions to tune the karts. Jeff was also still getting used to the kart and track, dropping several seconds off his lap times.

After a practice session to make sure the karts we ready for the day on Saturday morning it was straight into Qualifying. Leighton qualified P2 of the Rotax's, with Jeff set to start P5.

Race 1 had mixed results for us. Leighton came home P2 in Rotax, with a race long battle against #33 David Dyson going down to the last lap. #16 Peter Nuske would take the win in Rotax, while Jeff had a bit of a lonely race, coming home P5. Leighton & Jeff finished P10 and P13 outright.

Race 2 was a lonely race for both drivers. Leighton fell to 3rd in Rotax before dropping out of the battle after being held up by a slower gearbox kart, and unfortunately didn't have to pace to catch back up. Jeff came home 5th, picking up an issue with his nosecone but he did well to manage it while improving his laptimes. Leighton finished P10 outright again with Jeff moving up to 12th.

Race 3 was a thriller, with the top 3 Rotax drivers battling for the win all race. Peter, David and Leighton all took the leas at various stages, but the #16 came home first for a clean sweep of the weekend, with only a few tenths separating the top 3. After making some changes to the kart, Jeff improved his lap time further finishing P5 in a solid first race weekend. Unfortunately the nose cone issue we thought we solved got worse, but Jeff still came home 13th outright, Leighton finishing 11th.

In the Rotax Light class Peter got the round win after winning all three races, Leighton finished second and Jeff came third, picking up a podium on debut. Overall it was a solid weekend for both drivers, and we're looking forward to being out at Lakeside in two weeks for the second and final round of 2020. @ Queensland Raceway
