The Simpson Car Club was formed in May 1969, but it took another five years before the first race meeting was ever held. The chosen site for this new found complex was to be a disused Gravel Pit 12km’s northeast of the Simpson township, the site of the current track and complex today! In the early stages of design members decided on a

different track shape that would be challenging for drivers. Initial earthworks got underway during Easter 1971 and by November 1972 the main construction of the track and spectator facilities had taken place. Further work was carried out to get the complex up to race readiness. The first ever race meeting was held at Simpson Speedway on Sunday the 24th of March 1974. The track was opened at midday before a giant crowd, by MLA for Polwarth Mr. Daytime race meetings were held as continual improvements to the complex were made over the years. A much safer concrete fence replaced the ageing wooden barrier and construction was completed by May of 1984, in all taking 2 years to complete. A major decision to move from daytime events to night racing saw the Speedway conduct it’s first show under lights in 1987, a move which has been the most significant in the Club’s 47 year history. That has proved to be by far most beneficial for competitors and spectators alike. Since 1987 the Simpson Car Club Inc. has not looked back, continual upgrades to facilities include a relocation of the pit area, a lighting upgrade, general improvements to the spectator bank and the amenities, and during the Winter and Spring of 2007 an extension to the Clubroom facilities with an undercover Presentation / Barbeque area being added. Track Distance: 1 Metre out from the Pole Line is 409 Metre's in length (1/4 mile). Turns Width: 15 Metre's. Turns are cambered. Surface composition, Natural Clay. Track Lighting:
53000 Watts (suitable for TV coverage). Safety Details:
Safety Fence, Concrete. Approx thickness 125mm. Approx height 1.2 Metre's. Catch Fence, Steel Mesh. 4 X 5/8" Cable. Approx height 3.5 Metre's (above safety fence). Gate, Steel X 2. Approx height 1.2 Metre's (safety fence continues above top of gate). Spectator Fence, 50mm Chain Mesh. Approx distance 3 Metre's (behind Catch Fence). Approx height 2.43 Metre's. Pit Area:
Approximate size 1.2 Acres. Accommodates up to 100 competing vehicles. Canteen and Toilet facilities provided in Pits (Clubrooms). Water provision (5 locations). No Dogs / Animals allowed. Tow vehicles, Transporters, Emergency vehicles, Trade Vendors and Officials vehicles only permitted. General Public Area:
Approx accommodation up to 3000 spectators. No Alcohol permitted for consumption during race meetings. Patrolled by Security Guards. Canteen and Toilet facilities provided in General Public Area. Guest / Corporate box facilities provided. Camping Facilities:
Camping is permitted at the complex. Facilities are limited. No open fires permitted during race season.

Let’s get excited for next season, starting with something the drivers and teams will be keen to hear..

We are excited to announce the 2026/27 VG Cabinets Winners Circle..

A few key items to take note -

- Win your final for the nights racing and You will receive an entry into the winners circle.
- At this stage there will be 23 available spots in the winners circle
- Drivers may have multiple entries into the winners circle
- Will be drawn at the presentation lunch (date to be confirmed)
- We can tell you that it will be a Sunday and it will be a family friendly event.
- If you enter the winners circle you must be in attendance to have your name on the wheel on presentation day.

And lastly we should mention the minimum prize that will be drawn will be $3000..

Last Tuesday night the Simpson Car Club held its AGM..

The committee turned over another year, and remains unchanged.

With some huge plans in the works for this coming season we couldn’t be happier to have all the crew all up and excited to bring you an awesome season of racing.

Since we didn’t get to have the presentation night we were unable to present a couple of members with an outstanding achievement..

These members are Kevin and Katrina, spending a lot of hours at the club doing all jobs needed all year around.
Because of this Katrina got the 2026 Max Nelson award, and Kevin got the 2026 Presidents award.

And once again a huge thankyou to all our active members and committee that keeps the Bungador Bullring Operational..

With all points added up we are excited to award Kaidon Brown our 2025/26 Heytesbury Stockfeeds Simpson Speedway Overall Aggregate Winner 🏆 sponsored by Jim & Elaine Lock

Kaidon Brown made the 2025/26 Speedcar season at Simpson Speedway his own, producing an incredible run of success at the Bungador Bullring. Brown claimed the Victorian Speedcar Title before returning just one week later to win the Australian Speedcar Championship, becoming a three-time Australian Champion in the process.

Unfortunately we were unable to have our Presentation Dinner this year. But stay tuned because in the coming weeks we have huge news regarding the 2026/27 Presentation.. it will be one that you will not want to miss out on. 💸💸💸
