TODAY IS THE DAY WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!
The Lonedog Special Olympics Australia - Ovens & Murray team are ready 💪💪

5PM live streaming begins

Australian Powerlifting Alliance 2026 APA Mega Nationals - D2S3 - All Special Olympics, Men: JR 59, 83

This is what inclusion in powerlifting looks like 🏋️

The Special Olympics division takes to the platform at the Australian Mega Nationals 2026 on Thursday 16 April, and we couldn’t be more proud to have these athletes competing alongside the rest of the team next week.

𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 | 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻

Susan Marcus competes in the 59kg class for a second time after hitting a massive 10kg personal best on the platform last year. We cannot wait to see what she puts up this time around!

Abbey Morton and Siobhan Engeler both step up in the 84kg class, setting up a genuine contest between two athletes who have both worked extremely hard to earn their spot at Nationals.

Meanwhile, in the 84+kg class, Alannah McKeown returns as the defending champion, having won this division last year with a 220kg total. She’ll undoubtedly be looking to defend that title and go even bigger in 2026. However, McKeown has some competition in the form of Georgia Cooper. Despite being a comparative newcomer to the sport, the opportunity is there for her to dethrone the reigning champ!

𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 | 𝗠𝗲𝗻

Mitchell Smith at 59kg, Kayah Guenther at 66kg, Harry Stewart at 83kg, Kieran Levy at 93kg and Shaun Channon at 120kg are all making their national powerlifting debut next week. Think about that for a moment — five newcomers choosing the biggest national stage of the year as the place to take their first major steps in powerlifting. That takes guts, and we are absolutely here for it. Welcome to the sport, boys.

Jack Carroll returns to the 74kg class as one of the most decorated athletes within the Australian Special Olympics division. Since 2019 he has collected accolades both nationally and internationally, and last year added another national title to his collection with a 355kg total. He arrives at Mega Nationals 2026 not just as the defending champion, but as demonstrative proof of what is possible when dedication meets passion. He’s a true inspiration to everyone in this sport.
