Exciting announcement for the 2026 City of Joondalup Coastal Quest Triathlon! 👏🚴🏻‍♂️

We are pleased to announce that the City of Joondalup Coastal Quest Triathlon is an official 2027 Australian Age Group Team Qualifying Race for the Sprint distance. This offers athletes the opportunity to seek selection to represent Australia at the 2027 World Triathlon Age Group World Championships in Hamburg, Germany.
Athletes must hold a Standard or Premium AusTriathlon membership to be eligible for selection consideration. All selection is determined in line with the Australian Age Group Team Selection Policy, and athletes are encouraged to review the policy and team information to understand the qualification process.

Well done Team XTR and the volunteers to deliver City of Joondalup Mullaloo Triathlon 2026 after a challenging weather pattern threatened the race! Congrats to all the competitors! 😎

Well that was an anxious week for many as as on again off again Cyclone Narelle toyed with the weather forecast and risked the disruption to City of Joondalup Mullaloo Triathlon 2026!

While we ended up with perfect racing conditions, the Westerly wind made the swim a challenge but all went ahead bar a change to shorten the Standard distance to an approx. 900-950m swim when the swell worsened! Certainly a busy action packed day as always at Mullaloo and some bike mishaps as well, it seems mostly from too much speed and ill-attention entering roundabouts and turns!

Big shout and and thanks to our Team XTR volunteers many of which give up their weekend to assist and the other volunteer groups. Some of our members were loading equipment Friday afternoon, setting up in the rain on Saturday, raced on Sunday and then packed up and bumped out after! Special mention to the Mullaloo Surf Club water safety team who did a spectacular job in managing the safety of competitors in the challenging swim conditions. Also for adjusting their monitoring of competitors to suit the conditions and advising on adjustments. The Lions Club of Duncraig and Northbeach - what amazing help you provided! Our gratitude to the City of Joondalup and event sponsors for their support and input over the months to make this event happen. Also the Triathlon WA technical officials who allocated their morning to assist manage the safety, flow and fair competition as best possible.
