PEGS Juniors Football Club

12 months on from the last game we played, which just happened to be our historic first junior premiership.

Like all of you, we are disappointed we aren’t able to play the game we love this year.

We miss the bacon and egg rolls on game day, hearing the cheers after a goal, the elation at the final siren after a nail-biter and the joy of singing the song with the faithful.

However, right now we need to play our role and ensure the WRFL community continues to stay safe and healthy during this challenging time.

We wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to all our clubs, players, coaches, umpires, officials, parents and partners for their understanding and support during 2020.

Let’s take this time to reset and plan for a bigger and better 2021 season. We already can’t wait for the first bounce.

But for now, stay home and stay safe.

The Western Region Football League has today announced the cancellation of its junior football premiership competitions for the 2020 season, as have the EDFL, EFNL, NFNL and South East Juniors.

Whilst the season remains “on hold” here is a Thursday throwback to some of the junior action from last year.

WRFL Season Update.

The WRFL season start has been deferred by 2 weeks due to the current restrictions. The new date for round 1 is Sunday August 9. The intention is to play a 9 round season concluding on Sunday October 4. This means games continue through the term 3 holiday period.

Clearly this is a very dynamic situation, and more changes and/or government imposed restrictions remain a possibility. However, whilst there is hope, the committee is committed to giving our players the opportunity to get back on the ground this season (just not in the next 4 weeks!).

If anyone has any specific concerns about the season, or their child’s participation, please contact your team managers - Sam, Susie or Kelly.

The WRFL will meet on a regular basis and update the club on any changes as they occur, which will then be passed onto our club members.

Training cancelled for next 4 weeks.

As part of the local lockdown restrictions announced within the past hour, the school grounds in Keilor Park will be closed, and travel into that area for non-essential purposes is not permitted.

There are a number of other WRFL clubs also impacted by these restrictions and what it means for the remainder of the season remains unclear. This is currently being worked through by the WRFL and will be communicated once we know more.

Please note - there is no training this Friday afternoon.

Training will resume on Sunday at 10am for all teams. The committee are monitoring the public health advice, and will communicate further should the position change between now and Sunday.
