UNSW Redback Racing is a student led project that designs, builds and races an open wheeled race car

Located within the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales, the UNSW Redback Racing Formula SAE team welcomes UNSW students from all disciplines across the university. The team designs, constructs and races a small open wheeled race car and competes against all major Australian and international universities at the annual Formula SAE-Australasia competition, run by the Society of Automotive Engineers, Australasia.

Redback Racing would like to thank our sponsor Teltonika for their contributions to our team.
Our team members use Teltonika's Remote Management System (RMS) to connect to the high speed routers mounted in the car, allowing them to debug, tweak settings, and collect data from virtually anywhere. Teltonika also provides us with workshops, giving our members opportunities to gain valuable skills and training.
We're grateful for Teltonika's support and we look forward to our continued partnership.

UNSW Redback Racing extends a huge thank you to the James N. Kirby Engineering Makerspace for their continued support in our manufacturing journey! ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

One of UNSW's fabrication and prototyping workshops, the Makerspace provides our team with the essential space and tools to design, build and test our ideas. These include CNC mills, cold saws, and laser cutters to name a few - an extended list is available on their website. What truly sets the Kirby Makerspace apart is its staff. Their hands-on advice and technical guidance ensure our members stay safe while fostering a culture of innovation. ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ›‘๏ธ

Thank you to the Kirby Makerspace team for enabling us to bring RB26 to life. We are incredibly grateful for this partnership as we further our manufacturing efforts! โญ

- UNSW students looking to work in the Makerspace can complete the Workshop Safety badge run by the staff throughout the school term.

UNSW Redback is excited to work with s as we approach the thick of our manufacturing season. With our new H2D printer and its heated chamber, we've been able to make our first-ever 3D-printed polycarbonate parts for our Powertrain department, using Bambu's fire-resistant polycarbonate. The large build volume also means our departments can create larger composite moulds that greatly aid our manufacturing process - Aerodynamics and Embedded Systems have made great use of this capability so far. Stay tuned to see what else we make with Bambu Lab! ๐Ÿ› ๐ŸŽ

For the first time in our team's 27-year history, Redback Racing has produced an all-carbon fiber monocoque for our chassis! ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Built using carbon fiber and a foam core over custom stainless steel moulds, this milestone marks a massive leap forward in our engineering performance. Manufacturing kicked off on May 4th and wrapped up on June 23rd, completing the entire process right on schedule in just 50 days! ๐Ÿ—“๏ธโšก๏ธ

A huge shoutout to our Chassis team for all their dedication and tireless hard work to bring this build to life.

We would like to give a special thanks to our sponsors Sydney Laser Cut, McConaghy, and MC Corsa, as well as , the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, School of Computer Science and Engineering, and the UNSW Makerspace. Their incredible support, resources, and technical assistance throughout this process were vital in helping us reach this achievement! ๐Ÿ‘
