🏀 HALFWAY THERE! 🏀

And just like that, we’re halfway through another season of junior basketball! 🙌

A big shout-out to all our players, coaches, referees, volunteers and families for helping make the season what it is so far.

We’ve seen plenty of great teamwork, improvement, determination, big smiles… and of course, a few “Mum, where are my basketball shoes?” moments along the way 😂

Now it’s time for a well-earned 2 week break! 🎉

Enjoy the little break, get some rest and we’ll see everyone back on court ready for the second half of the season!

🏀 Alternating Arrow 🏀
The team that does not gain the first control of the ball shall be entitled to the first alternating throw-in.

The scorer to place arrow in correct direction after jump ball starts the game and then rotate it after every held ball. The referee will let you know.

What is a held ball : ball gets stuck at ring, when the referee cannot determine an out of bounds situation, when 2 opposition players are both holding/fighting for the ball.

🏀 Understanding the rules can help parents and coaches assist players on game day 😊

🏀 Free Throws 🏀

The team shooting can have 2 players positioned in the second/middle space and another 2 behind the 3 point line.
The other team can have 2 player positioned in the space closest to the ring and 1 player in the top space - choosing either side.
The other 2 must be behind the 3 point line.
Players behind the 3 point line cannot stand past the free throw line where the shooter is standing (Area marked blue).
After the shot, when the ball is able to be rebounded, the players lining the key can enter the key once the ball has left the shooters hand.
For the players behind the 3 point line and the shooter, they cannot move until the ball has hit the ring or backboard.

*Distracting the shooter in any way shall incur a warning and then a Technical Foul.

🏀 UNIFORM & JEWELLERY REMINDER 🏀

Just a quick reminder that players need to arrive in the correct uniform:

👕 Team tops - no other shirts to be worn underneath
🩳 Black basketball shorts - no pockets
💍 No jewellery — including earrings, necklaces, bracelets or watches.

These rules are in place for safety and to keep everyone looking like a team.

🏀 FILL-INS – A QUICK BUT IMPORTANT REMINDER 🏀

Just a reminder around fill-in players, because this one seems to be getting a little confused.

Fill-ins are there for when a team is short and only has 3 players available, so that the team can actually take the court and avoid a forfeit.

🚨 There are NO fill-ins allowed during finals!

We understand kids have busy lives and sometimes can’t make games, but the fill-in rule needs to be followed fairly across the competition. It’s about giving teams the opportunity to play, while also keeping things fair for everyone.
