OVAL UPDATE - THE MOUND HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!

After weeks of wondering whether we were actually resurfacing an oval or building a small mountain range, we can finally report that the mysterious mound has officially disappeared!

And there’s plenty more happening behind the scenes as the transformation of our home ground continues:

- A beautifully flat surface is starting to take shape
- The boundary fencing has begun
- The first irrigation lines are in
- And the whole oval is starting to look a lot more like the footy ground we know and love!

There’s still plenty of work to come but these photos show just how much progress is being made.

For now, we’ll keep watching the dirt, checking the trenches and making sure The Mound doesn't try to make a comeback. 😂

Presentation Day wouldn't be complete without a few special people helping us celebrate our young Lakers and this year we had two absolute legends lending a hand!

⭐ MASON McALLISTER — SENIOR CAPTAIN, Kinglake FNC

A huge thank you to Mason McAllister for joining us to present awards to our junior players.

Mason is a fantastic example of the Kinglake pathway, he played his junior footy at KJFC before stepping up to play senior footy for Kinglake FNC as a 16-year-old. Fast forward to 2026 and Mason has now been named in the NFNL Team of the Year!!👏

It's pretty special to have someone who has come through our junior ranks, gone on to achieve great things in senior footy and then come back to celebrate the next generation of Lakers.

Thanks Mason for giving your time and helping make Presentation Day special for our players. 💚💛

U16 PRESENTATION DAY - A SEASON TO BE PROUD OF 💛💚

Yesterday we celebrated our U16 Lakers, a group who faced some really difficult challenges throughout the season, but showed what it truly means to be a team.

There were injuries, tough days, setbacks and moments when things could easily have gone the other way. But they kept turning up, kept supporting each other, kept competing and, most importantly, kept their heads held high. 💚💛

That resilience and character is something that goes well beyond the scoreboard ... and it's something this group should be incredibly proud of.

What a fantastic way to celebrate our U14 Lakers yesterday... a season that saw this group not only grow together as a team, but earn their place in the first week of finals!

Making finals is a fantastic achievement and it reflects the commitment, determination and team spirit this group showed throughout the season. There were plenty of challenges along the way, but they kept turning up, backing each other and competing right through to the end. 💚💛

💚💛 CONGRATULATIONS HARRY! 💛💚

A huge congratulations to Harry Heal who finished in the Top 5 of the U14 Division 2 Best & Fairest at the NFNL Awards! 👏

Harry has had a fantastic season and this recognition is a wonderful reflection of the way he approaches both his football and his teammates.

On and off the field Harry consistently displays leadership, fairness, respect and a genuine commitment to those around him. He is another shining example of the values we want to see in our young Lakers ....not just being a great footballer, but being a great teammate and an even better young person!

We couldn't be prouder Harry. What a fantastic achievement and a very well-deserved recognition of an outstanding season!

- ⁠Listen: Hear them out without any judgment.
- ⁠Encourage action: Help them find support or ways to cope.
- ⁠Check in: Talk to them again in the next few weeks.
