As part of the **2026 First International Dragon and Lion Dance Award Ceremony** in Malaysia, we had the honour of sharing the story and reflections of **Sifu Master James Leung**.

For decades, Sifu James Leung has dedicated himself to martial arts, lion dance, dragon dance, cultural preservation, teaching and community service in Australia.

This interview reflects not only his personal journey, but also the story of Australian Yau Kung Mun — the sacrifices, the training, the discipline, the students, the families, and the responsibility of passing tradition to the next generation.

A meaningful conversation from a meaningful occasion.

In this special episode, **Master Andrew Yap 葉德順師傅**, founder of **Malaysia Xuan Long Sports Association 馬來西亞《玄龍》體育總會**, visits Sydney to share his knowledge, experience and lion dance training with **Australian Yau Kung Mun** and **Lion Dance Kids**.

During the bootcamp, our students had the opportunity to learn more about lion dance movement, expression, rhythm, teamwork and the **Lo Fu Chi lion style 老夫子獅風格** under the guidance of one of Malaysia’s respected lion dance masters.

This visit was more than just training. It was a valuable cultural exchange, a chance for our students to learn directly from an international master, and an important step in continuing to grow lion dance in Australia.

A big thank you to **Master Andrew Yap 葉德順師傅** and **Xuan Long 玄龍** for the guidance, friendship and support.

Follow our journey as we continue training, learning and sharing lion dance culture with the next generation.

Earlier this month, Australian Yau Kung Mun had the opportunity to take part in the Fellowship Cup.

This competition gave our team another valuable chance to step onto the floor, test ourselves, learn from other strong teams, and continue growing through real competition experience.

We are proud of our performers for their effort, courage and commitment. The result is only one part of the journey — the bigger picture is the growth, the discipline and the experience gained along the way.

Thank you to the organisers, judges, volunteers and all participating teams for creating a meaningful competition platform for the lion dance community.

The journey continues.
