LADIES WINTER GOLF Thursday - 17/9/26

20 ladies played for the Dewberry Home Trophy today in the best conditions possible. The great scores reflected the weather. A-grade winner Colleen had 37 points, B-grade (and winner of the DEWBERRY HOME Trophy) Joan had 39, runner-up Mieka had 38 and Jennifer G (and Rosie) who had 37 didn't even get a mention. But she did make up for it by hitting the most number of fairways! Not to be left out, Jenny in C-grade had 36.
At the other end of the list, birthday girl Jayne perhaps had other things on her mind and was maybe a bit distracted by her beautifully decorated cart. Happy Birthday Jayne!!
Two teams of 4 ladies travelled to Lucindale Golf Club last Friday with mixed results. As well as a normal Ambrose competition, the teams had a much more complicated game to contend with. Needless to say, one of the groups relied heavily on their younger member to interpret the rules and bring them home in 3rd place. The other team perhaps should have followed their lead as they won the not so coveted Happy Wanderers trophy.

Today 33 men & 13 ladies played stroke and putting in almost perfect conditions with the sun shining and no wind. Welcome spring weather!!
Ladies winner was Jenny Gritton with a nett 71, runner up was Mieka Woodall with nett 73. Colleen Manz won the putting.
Mens winner was young Sam Rasheed with a nett 68 on a count-back from runner-up Brett Vanstone. Putting went to Sam Gardner with a very handy 24 putts. Sam is considering playing a full round with his putter next week 😜

15 lucky golfers played in the best possible conditions today. Great scores? Unfortunately, not! Apart from the three winners - Kay Rasheed in A-grade, Kristen Wilks in B-grade and Kylie Lewis in C-grade, and a couple of runners-up, the results were quite poor. Putting especially was quite embarrassing in some cases.
The best score of the day was Kristen, who didn't appear to be suffering any ill effects after her milestone birthday during the week. Happy Birthday Kristen.
Eight ladies are off to Lucindale to try their luck in the "Scrumble" on Friday. I'm sure there will be plenty of tales to tell when they return home.

Today's event was Par in very challenging conditions. The Ladies, today, were possibly the only smart ones, staying indoors. 18 Men played but only 2 players finished with a + score. Young Koby Pope won with +2 on a count back over his brother Jorryn, both playing excellent golf in very trying conditions.

Good field of 18 this week. A-grade winner was Jane Thorpe, B-grade Jennifer Gritton, C-grade Kylie Lewis with Heather Criddle on the same very good score.
6 ladies ventured to Bordertown Golf Club on Friday for their Open Day. No scores worth bragging about unfortunately. A long day made even longer by getting wet.
Big working bee at the club today, making way for a new cart shed. More people using carts now instead of their legs.

A very nice day saw better numbers playing for the Malcolm & Di Collins Trophy.
The comp was stroke & putting and the mens comp was dominated by the Pope brothers with Jorryn coming in with a very nice 66 nett closely followed by brother Koby also with a very nice score of 67 nett. In the ladies, Joan Tiver continued with her good Thursday form to win with nett 71 on a count back from Helen Hales.

David Rasheed played Cameron England in the semi-final of the Starling Cup in a very close game with David winning on the 19th hole.
