Thanks everyone for your concern and well wishes for our umpire supervisor who had a fall today.

We can let you know that she is doing well and will remain in hospital overnight. Unfortunately, she has broken her wrist and will require surgery. She’s in good spirits though!

Thank you again for all your support and kindness.

What a day it was yesterday at Bayside Netball Association for our 2026 Chelsea 13-1 and 13-2 teams competing in the Netball Victoria Central Zone Association Championships.

The conditions weren’t ideal, but both teams thrived and represented Chelsea with pride throughout the day.

Our 13-1s had an outstanding tournament, progressing through to the Grand Final and finishing runners-up in their division β€” an incredible achievement. As a result, our 13-1 team has now qualified for Finals Day on Sunday the 21st of June at the State Netball Centre.

Our 13-2s also had a fantastic day, finishing third on the ladder against strong competition.

As an association, we are extremely proud of the efforts, sportsmanship and determination shown by these young athletes. A huge congratulations also goes to their coach, parents and supporters for the encouragement and commitment shown across the day.

Special thanks also to our umpires Maddie & Rochelle!

Thank you to Netball Victoria for providing these wonderful opportunities for junior athletes, and to Bayside Netball Association for hosting a fantastic event and allowing these young athletes to showcase their skills and passion for netball.

On behalf of all past and present members of Chelsea and District Netball Association, we would like to wish a very Happy 90th Birthday to a very special person in our history, Deirdre Ades.

Deirdre is a Life Member of Chelsea and District and a true living legend of our association. Her dedication, leadership, and passion for netball have helped shape the strong community we know today.

Deirdre served as President in 1972, 1975, 1977, and 1979, before again taking on the role in 1984. In 1989, she returned as President through until 1994, and then once more from 1999 until 2006. Her incredible commitment over so many years ensured that netball remained a thriving and viable sport for young women in the Chelsea community.

We hope you have a truly wonderful day surrounded by family, friends, and the many people whose lives you have touched through netball.

Best wishes
