Most of the team are now winging their way to Newport Rhode Island for the Women's International Championship. The team will be on the water from 9 September when we take delivery of our boat. It's a true privilege to be hosted by New York Yacht Club, and to have the 's made available for this Regatta. 20 teams, 20 identical boats, 20 identical sail wardrobes - what an opportunity to test our skills against the best in the world.

As our team leader and Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron Vice Commodore Karyn Gojnich says 'The NYYC Women’s International Championship is an extraordinary opportunity for RSYS to accelerate our already strong women’s sailing program. It represents the pinnacle of our pathway program, from learn to sail, to the LOTS Coaching Regatta, Tuesday Twilights, one design sailing and both inshore and offshore opportunities. Many of our female members, including our Academy and Squadron Keelboat Program sailors are already competing nationally, and internationally. The NYYC Regatta caps that pathway to elite sailing'.

We wouldn't be here if it weren't for the incredible support our fellow members, coaches, boat owners, training squad, family and friends. THANK YOU. We'll do you proud - just watch us go!

What a thrill! Members, family, friends and supporters gathered at to celebrate the entire training Squad for the Women's International Championship, and send off our crew in style.

A wonderful occasion as we launched our partnership with Ralph Lauren, sponsors of the teams' On Shore uniforms. In the words of our team leader and Vice Commodore OLY, “Our partnership with Ralph Lauren means our team will be right at home alongside the best in the world. We’re grateful for their incredible support.” A very stylish way to send off the team and wish them fair winds!

Like to know a bit more about the boat the team will be sailing at the Women's International Championship?

The was commissioned as a platform for high performance, accessible racing - and what fun it is! The RSYS team have been generously supported by , one of just two IC37's in Australia. Being able to sail on the same boat we'll be racing in Newport has been vital to team development and performance - thank you !

The New York Yacht Club is the proud owner of 20 IC37's, and is making the boats available for the Regatta. It's an incredible opportunity to sail identical boats, with identical crew weight restrictions, against the most highly skilled women sailors in the world. We can't wait!

Check out Youtube, or the IC37 class website for amazing footage of the boats in action. https://ic37class.org/

And now... meet our team leader! Vice Commodore OLY is one of just 20 elite female sailors invited to bring a team to the Women's International Championship to be held in September 2026.

Karyn says the opportunity marks a significant milestone for women’s sailing at RSYS:

“The NYYC Women’s International Championship is an extraordinary opportunity for the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron to accelerate our already strong women’s sailing program. It represents the pinnacle of the RSYS pathway program, from learn to sail, to the LOTS Coaching Regatta, Tuesday Twilights, one design sailing and both inshore and offshore opportunities. Many of our female members, including our Academy and Squadron Keelboat Program sailors are already competing nationally, and internationally. The NYYC Regatta caps that pathway to elite sailing.

"We’ve had a training Squad of more than 20 women on the water since April, bringing together a wide range of experience — from Olympic hopefuls to national competitors and emerging talent. Every member has shown tremendous enthusiasm, commitment to learning, and a drive to develop as a high performing team. Every sailor in this squad has played an important role in our journey. Whether sailing, coaching, supporting or stepping into different crew positions, each has contributed to the culture, standards and camaraderie that define our program. We are proudly a development team. I’m excited to see how far we've progressed and to see what's possible on the start line in Newport".
