60 years of speed! Nylander Motorsport is a Western Australian based Dirt Late Model race team Now the legacy lives on through Nylander twins.
Nylander Motorsport is among the longest standing Speedway racing teams in the country. Founded in 1962 by local legend Alan "AJ" Nylander at the ripe old age of 16. AJ progressed through the ranks to be one of the fiercest competitors of his day. Matt & David Nylander actively compete in the Latemodel sedan division which AJ co-foundered back in 1997.

QUICK HEALTH UPDATE FROM DAVE… 🏁
It’s been six months since that pretty nasty crash at the WA State Title, and to be fair, recovery has been a lot tougher than I ever expected.
Four months in a moon boot with a broken foot was frustrating enough, but the concussion has been the real battle. Getting back to normal life and work a much slower process than I would’ve liked.
I’ve gradually worked my way back into things, but even now I’m still not back at work full-time. Some days are better than others, but thankfully things are moving in the right direction.
Probably the biggest thing I’ve learnt is you can’t rush this stuff, as much as I’ve wanted to at times!
A massive thank you to my family, my race team, crew, mates, supporters and sponsors who’ve been along for the journey. The calls, messages, check-ins and patience have genuinely meant a lot!
It never ceases to amaze me how much our speedway community is just one big family! 🙏🏼
This all being said, I am really looking forward to having Dylan Barrow in the car this year, and seeing what we can achieve as a team!
Still a way to go, but we’re getting there... 👊🏼🏁

YOUNG GUN, DYLAN BARROW TO PILOT FOR TEAM NYLANDER
We are excited to announce the signing of Victorian Young Gun, Dylan Barrow to pilot the Nylander Motorsport 54 machine for a number of the top shows this coming season as part of the Canning Vale Toyota Late Model Series - LMRWA and March Speedweek series at the Perth Motorplex
Barrow is no stranger to the winner circle, having won the SSA Australian Modified Sedan title last year, along with a raft of other wins in Modifieds and Late Models and an impressive 2 x top 5 finishes in recent Australian Super Sedan titles.
Barrow has recently had a short campaign in the USA, behind the wheel of his family’s Longhorn Chassis, with strong finishes in every race meeting he attended
We’re excited to have Dylan and the Barrow family in our stable this year and I’m looking forward to some strong results together

NYLANDER FORCED TO WITHDRAW FROM 2026/27 SEASON
A nasty accident sidelined Dave Nylander during the WA State Title back in March, forcing him to miss the last six race meetings of last season
Sustaining major concussion, as well as breaking his foot in 2 places, whiplash and other spinal concerns, he has been having consistent treatment over the last 6 months with ongoing complications.
This being said, Dave has been forced to make the tough decision to withdraw from the 2026/ 2027 Canning Vale Toyota Late Model Series.
“This decision was not made lightly, but I have to put my recovery first” said Nylander. “I had intended to be back behind the wheel leading into the season, but am suffering from a few concussion related concerns causing some major issues still, so have had to make the tough decision to withdraw“
But with one person’s misfortune, comes another’s opportunity.
Team Nylander will still be campaigning the 54 machine, and we have some exciting news to be announced over the coming days. Watch this space!
