The Lane Cove Tigers are a family friendly club that provides an opportunity for boys and girls to play junior rugby league. Our focus is on getting children participating, learning new skills, working as a team, exercising and having fun! The Lane Cove Tigers was founded in 1925 were known as the Tigers from 1956 until 1999. The club was re-formed in 2012 due to the significant interest in rugby league within the local schools, and is one of eight clubs that comprise the North Sydney Bears district rugby league football competition, which ultimately field a NSW Cup Team and is a feeder club for the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The club currently have teams from Under 6s to U16s with their home ground at Tantallon Oval. We’re committed to inclusiveness, excellence, courage and teamwork defining every step. These values are displayed both on and off the field, including our recent work with Council and our other fellow resident Clubs of Tantallon Oval in achieving a much needed upgrade of the lighting infrastructure. Our home ground is Tantallon Oval, located on the corner of Epping Road and Tantallon Road. Children aged 4 and over can play rugby league. Games are played on Saturdays in the North Sydney District Junior Rugby League Competition and Training is held on Tuesday afternoons at Tantallon Oval for most age groups.

We couldn’t be prouder to see three of our U18s Girls Leaguetag stars step up to represent the North Sydney Bears at the 2026 Westpac Blues Tag Representative Gala Day at St Marys Leagues Stadium!

Seeing our Tiger girls take their game to the representative stage against top squads from right across the state is what it’s all about. You girls represented both the Bears and the Lane Cove Tigers with true pride, skill, and heart.

Huge congratulations to two of our very own Lane Cove Tigers, Ben Doumit and Mataya Jabre, who have been selected to proudly represent the Lebanese Cedars Rugby League sides. Representing your heritage on the representative stage is a massive achievement, and both players are doing our club proud with their dedication and leadership.

Ben Doumit has earned his spot in the Under 15s Cedars squad, where he continues to make a strong impact on the field. Mataya Jabre is taking on a massive leadership role, captaining the Under 16s team while also stepping up to back up for the Under 18s squad throughout the campaign.

Let us all get behind Ben and Mataya as they represent both the Cedars and our club. The whole Tigers community is extremely proud of your achievements and wishing you the best of luck for the remainder of the tournament.

That’s a wrap on the season 2026, Tigers family!
While we didn’t walk away with any Grand Final shields this year, the scoreboard only tells a fraction of the story. We had a few teams push hard deep into the semi-finals, giving it everything they had right up to the final whistle.
Running a club always comes with its share of hurdles, rainy weekends, and logistical madness, but moments like these make every bit of effort worth it. From high-fives on the sidelines and rainy huddles to young kids lining up their first kicks (and even our four-legged supporters getting involved), this season was packed with genuine joy, connection, and community.
Years down the track, we hope our players look back on their time with the Tigers not by counting trophies, but by remembering the friendships made, the laughs shared, and the feeling of belonging to something special.
A massive thank you to our sponsors, coaches, volunteers, parents, and players who make this club feel like home.
Huge shoutout to the legend James Baird Sports Photography for capturing these incredible moments on the field all season long! (Give his page a follow https://www.instagram.com/jamesbairdsportsphotography/ & https://www.facebook.com/JamesBairdSportsPhotoGraphy — his lens caught the heart of our community like no one else).
Rest up, recharge, and we’ll see you all back out on the field soon!

MORE FINALS FOOTY FOR OUR TIGER GIRLS!

A huge shout out to Maddie, Mahli, Taya, Brooklyn, Harper and Floss, who proudly wear the orange and black for Lane Cove and have also been playing tackle with the Pennant Hills Stags.

We want to say a big thank you to the Pennant Hills-Cherrybrook Rugby League Club for creating this opportunity for our girls to experience and develop their tackle footy. It’s fantastic to see our local clubs working together to give girls more opportunities to play the game they love.

And now they’re heading into FINALS too!

We were thrilled to have NRL legend and State of Origin starJake Friend ( ) drop by this week to introduce himself to our U14 and U15 squads.
Drawing from his extensive experience working with the Sydney Roosters Academy, Jake brought a fantastic perspective on junior development. He spoke about what it takes for young players to grow both on and off the field, emphasising that good habits and a positive attitude start right here at the community level.
Jake shared an invaluable look into his footy journey, speaking openly about:
- The mindset and dedication needed to improve your game week in, week out
- Overcoming obstacles and building resilience when facing challenges
- His career highlights and the lifelong friendships and connections made through footy
This wasn’t just a one-off visit. Jake will be working with our senior coaching staff to help bring some of those great development insights into our teams. We feel incredibly privileged to have him supporting the mighty Lane Cove Tigers family.

PS: A few of our quick-thinking U10 boys managed to sneak in at the end for a photo!
