🇹🇭 ONE LAST TIME FOR THAILAND. A LIFETIME OF PRIDE. ❤️

Our very own Coach Daew is getting ready to step onto one of Asia’s biggest sporting stages — the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan! 🥋

This competition carries a very special meaning. It will be his final time representing his beloved homeland, Thailand, as he begins a new chapter of his life in Australia. 🇹🇭🇦🇺

For us at Yamato Judo Club, Daew is more than just a coach. He is an inspiration to our young judoka and a valued member of our judo family.

Daew, step onto that tatami with pride, fight with your whole heart, and give everything you have!

Your Yamato family — coaches, students, parents and friends — is standing proudly behind you, all the way from Sydney!

Whatever the result, you’ve already made us proud.

❤️ LET’S GO, DAEW! FIGHT FOR THAILAND!

Tai-otoshi 🥋

Breaking it down step by step.

Position, movement, timing and where to place the body — the small details that make a big difference.

The kids were completely focused on this one, then straight onto the mat to practise it for themselves.

Learning judo properly takes time, repetition and lots of practice. That’s part of the journey.

Randori time 🥋

Learning to move, react, attack, defend… and keep going when it doesn’t quite work the first time.

This is where judo starts to make sense. 💪

🥋🏆 YAMATO Judo Club shined at the recent Australian National Championships! 🏆🥋

We are incredibly proud to see our young athletes step onto the biggest stage and give their absolute best. Their hard work, dedication and courage brought fantastic results:

🥇 Cassia – Gold Medal, Individual Division & Gold Medal, NSW Team
🥇 Annabelle – Gold Medal, NSW State Team, including a victory over the individual gold medallist in her category
🎖️ Thomas – 5th Place, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal after a strong performance

These achievements are just the beginning. We are excited for what lies ahead and proud of the commitment, discipline and spirit our young athletes continue to show every day.

YAMATO is continuing to grow and establish itself as a premium environment where young athletes can develop skills, confidence and a strong future both on and off the mat.

The future is looking very bright for our team 💙🥋

Really enjoyed our session at Kai Fitness. We spent some time showing their kids the ropes, teaching them how to fall safely and handle those first few basics of Judo. It’s not about perfection, just about getting them moving and having fun with it.
Thanks to the Kai team for the invite and for filming the session. Great to work with another local spot that’s just as focused on getting kids engaged as we are.
Feel free to reach out to either of us if you’re keen to find out more.

Age is just a number on the mats! ✨

At just 4 years old, he’s already learning focus, coordination, and—clearly—how to take down a black belt coach twice his size! 😉

Our junior programs are all about building confidence, balance, and having fun in a safe, structured environment. Who says you have to wait until you’re older to start your martial arts journey?

Yamato Judo had an awesome session coaching the kids in Lane Cove West in collaboration with Kai Fitness! It was fantastic to see everyone training hard and having fun on the mat. 🔥🥋
These young athletes are building strong technique, confidence, and resilience.
Quote of the day:
“Fall down seven times, get up eight.” – Japanese Proverb
We’re incredibly proud of every kid who showed up and gave it their all!
We’re looking forward to bringing all the kids together at our Winter Holiday Judo Camp. The program is being finalised — stay tuned for more details coming soon!
