✍️ SEASON REVIEW: 2025 was a season of cautious optimism for an emerging C**ties crop and in 2026 our excitement was rewarded more than we could’ve imagined.
Among the best coaches we’ve had in the past decade, the partnership of two proper rugby fanatics in Elijah Carlin and Luke Raams came with plenty of promise.
Few though could’ve anticipated the pool of talent they’d get to select from this season. Last year’s boom rookies like Tylar Larcombe and Harry Watson were joined by charismatic and athletic peers who similarly dominated in their first years of rugby union.
Off the field a strong culture was brewed with humble larrikin Ollie officiating a weekly Kangaroo Court that would make any Old Boy proud.
The bonds these sessions grew paid massive dividends with a 9-5 win/loss finish and 144 positive point differential. In the process the boys notched a 72-5 win in Round 4 and our first ever Division 1 C**ts finals appearance.
Joining 2025 graduates Tylar, Ewan and Sammy Ford, Hamish McKenzie, Jackson Bagatella and Taine Paul made well-deserved First Grade debuts with the latter playing a key role through the middle third of the year.
Equally as important, battlers developed their game under the tutelage of Elijah and Raams and other coaches in the lower grades.
In the forwards Jimmy Rowan took his game to another level while under pressure fly-half Will Ticehurst completely outshone his rookie year with a starring performance as the sides game-manager.
Two of our best Ewan Xuereb and Pat Bourke finished marvellous years, travelling with Coach Tunksy to Newcastle to represent Subbies at the Australian Rugby Shield competition. And thats to say nothing of the incredible years so many other talented teammates shared.
What was likely our greatest C**t seasons at Blueys ever remains to be retold by two very satisfied and newly energised coaches at Presentation Night in a month’s time.
We know for sure though, if this playing group sticks together coming up through the grades, Blue Mountains Rugby is in safe hands for a whole generation.
