💫 LET ME REINTRODUCE MYSELF 💫
Hi, I'm Courtney, and I'm the face behind The Movement Room.
I've been working in the fitness industry for over 16 years as both a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. For more than 12 of those years, I've successfully run my own business—starting with a personal training studio before expanding into a 24-hour gym, group fitness classes and online Community programs.
Helping people move, build strength, and feel confident in their bodies has been my career, but more importantly, it's been my passion.
Over the years, my own journey has evolved. As I've grown, experienced injuries, navigated life's challenges, and learned more about how our bodies work, I've developed a deep love for Pilates: both Reformer and Mat.
What started as a time out for me, quickly became so much more.
Pilates taught me the importance of core strength, spinal mobility, body awareness, balance, stability, and moving well for life. It showed me that strength isn't just about lifting heavier weights... it's about creating a body that feels capable, resilient, and supported every single day.
That's why I created The Movement Room.
A private, welcoming space where you can step away from the noise of a busy gym and focus completely on you.
Whether your goal is to build strength, improve mobility, manage injuries, develop better movement patterns, strengthen your core, or simply feel more connected to your body, every session is tailored specifically to your needs.
I offer one-on-one sessions in:

One thing I'm particularly passionate about is helping people who are interested in trying Reformer Pilates but don't yet feel confident enough to walk into a studio class. If you've ever looked at a reformer and thought, "That looks amazing, but I have no idea what I'm doing," you're not alone.
My one-on-one sessions can help you learn the fundamental reformer exercises, understand the equipment, build confidence in your movement, and feel comfortable before stepping into a group class environment. Sometimes all you need is a little guidance and reassurance to get started.
There's nothing I love more than watching someone discover what their body is capable of and helping them move with more confidence, freedom, and strength.
I'm incredibly excited to begin this next chapter and share what I've learned with others.

Change is on you.
Change is in the effort you're willing to put in.
If you're wanting to change but haven't invested in yourself to do so, then you have no right to complain... Yet, so many do.
Blaming others, blaming situations, blaming anything and anyone they can to let themselves off 'the hook'
Change happens as soon as you decide to take back control, THEN take action. MASSIVE action. Consistent action.
Blame gets you nowhere except a golden ticket to your own pity party... which people will only attend a few times before they too, get bored of the same repeat.
If you're still complaining and still blaming... You haven't won!
Winning happens when you take responsibility for yourself, your actions, your thoughts and your change!

We are emotional beings, born to express emotions freely. However we are taught to think not feel. When we were children and we need to express our emotions, we were told to 'stop being silly', punished or ignored.
Many have buried their pain inside, feeling unable to ask for help, hiding it from others. Then they build the walls so high that even they didn't know how to climb up and out, let alone let their loved ones in.
Sometimes we don't recognise or experience this pain until we hit adulthood, but there comes a time when we cannot suppress any longer.
Sometimes we all hide our emotions. We pretend, avoid, and deny squash our emotions as a defense mechanism, but it doesn't do us any favors.
Some often struggle with difficult emotions like shame, fear, or anger. When we experience personal events that overwhelm us and we are unable to process what is happening. We bury them so deep down inside, trying to fool ourselves they are gone.
The buried emotions get stuck in our body where they build and grow like a fungi, drowning us and sometimes causing dis-ease.
What is the opposite of repression? EXPRESSION. Find someone you can talk to about how you're feeling.
Cry, shout, scream! We have to feel it to heal it.
Take time to get out in nature to be with your thoughts. Dance, laugh, cry. Meditate, exercise. Move. Journal, sing, play and remember how it is to be free again. Oh how good it feels to be free!
Healing begins as soon as you decide that you will no longer live this way.
If you've already decided you want to let go, you've already decided to make the first step.
