Smokin’ Joe Shootout Winners 🏆

Nick and the team were back in action this past weekend at Latrobe Speedway - Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway for the Smokin’ Joe Shootout and were fortunate enough to have some fantastic results on the night, taking home the feature race and the shootout honours!

Boxing night 26/12/24

We decided to throw the car back together for a late start to the year!

Time trials were a little rusty, however we managed to put a few laps together.

Heat 1 - Everything went smoothly and we managed to get the win!

Heat 2 - I pulled all my tear offs on lap 1 and couldn’t get close to anyone without losing sight.. 🤦🏻

Feature - I got the jump and stayed out the front for the whole 20 laps and came home with the win!

We will sit tonight out, however we will be back for the state title and try our luck for another year!

2023/2024 recap

With a lot of ups and downs this season, with only a few feature wins and a fair amount of dnf’s, we struggled a lot with setups and trying new things however we finally found some speed when it was too late.

We managed to go back to back with the club championship! However after this season, in the 10+ years of racing, we have never missed a meeting so we think it’s time for a break away from the sport.

Had a pretty solid night! Good Quali & Heat races had start the final in a solid spot! Lead the race early on but an unfortunate mistake prior to the final meant we ran out of fuel before the chequered flag which meant a DNF. Disappointing given our good night and starting to really feel comfortable in the car - never mind!

LATROBE 10/2/24

🔥1 - 5th-7th
🔥2 - 6th-DNF
🏁A-Main - 8th-4th

Got off to a solid start timing in 2nd in time trials. Started back in the pack for both heat races. Got unlucky in the first, loosing a few spots after running slightly wide. Unfortunate luck continued in the second heat getting caught up with a spinning car and damaging the front end causing a DNF. Crew worked hard to get us back out for the final changing some stuff.
Made up a few spots in the final with some other cars getting together and us able to avoid the incidents. Made our way from 8th to the podium only to zig when we should’ve zagged, getting caught up with a slowing car and going back to 4th which is where we finished.

Though at times throughout the night we were unlucky, we made some changes and have made some progress on the car which is positive!!

Can’t thank our crew & supporters enough on the night who helped us out, especially to get the car back out for the A-Main after damage early on.

CARRICK 3/2/24

🔥3 4th - 3rd
Final🏁 5th - 8th

Tough night for Nick and the T48 sprintcar team. Struggled in our first heat with an exploded brake rotor. Brought it home 4th.
Second heat we broke the throttle bracket off the floor. Ended up 3rd.
Struggled in the final spinning early on in the race then again on Lap 22 and contact was made with another car. Race was declared so on paper we ended up 8th.
