Kei Shin Kan follows the teachings of traditional Japanese Karate Do as passed on by Master Takazawa who passed away in May 2010. Emphasis is placed on:
- Good manners, patience, moral behaviour and a strong spirit
- Strong foundation of basic techniques
-Development of speed, power, timing, accuracy and correct breathing
-Training designed to suit each individual including allowance for factors

Fresh black belts were presented to seniors at training, with some of their old ones being a little worn and frayed after 20-30+ years of training with them.

Instructors and students from around Australia gathered recently in Tasmania for our national 3 day camp under the guidance of Shihan Uchida. There were intensive training sessions and valuable ideas shared. Congratulations also to Damien Freeman from Launceston dojo winning the sparring tournament and Doug Zollo from Falls Creek passing his grading to 2nd Dan..

Congratulations to Frederic Courbet on receiving his 2nd Kyu certificate and brown belt this week after recently completing his grading.. Frederic has trained with us for 18 months and has several years prior Karate experience in both Australia and Europe.馃

Great time last night for Launceston members and partners celebrating the end of our 51st year of Kei Shin Kan in Tasmania. Chief Instructor David Lanham also presented a replacement 3rd Dan certificate to Damien Freeman after his original certificate (earnt in 2011) was lost in a recent house fire.
We are holding our end of year grading this Wednesday evening at 5.30pm.. Free entry and all welcome to watch.

Tasmanian students recently travelled to Sydney for our national training camp lead by Shihan Uchida and to celebrate 50 years of Kei Shin Kan in Australia.. Two of our members also participated in a grading, both receiving double promotions! Ian Lee graded to 1st Kyu and Craig Ambrose to 2nd Kyu. Certificates presented last night by Tasmanian Chief Instructor David Lanham and Senior Instructor Reg Green.. Congratulations to both 馃コ馃
