MITCH BURGESS - MATHIESON MEDALIST
Tonight is a pretty special night for our club, and there isn’t anyone more deserving of this recognition than our captain, Mitch Burgess.
To be named the Mathieson Medalist is an incredible individual achievement, and everyone at Leopold is incredibly proud of Mitch and what he has achieved.
But for those of us around the club, we know Mitch is so much more than just what he produces on a Saturday afternoon.
He is constantly giving back to this club, whether it’s with the senior group, helping our juniors, building connection with our netballers, or simply being the bloke who is always willing to put his hand up and help.
Then come game day, he leads from the front. His unbelievable pace, clean skills by hand and foot, and unrelenting defensive pressure make him incredibly hard to play against. But more than anything, it’s his consistency and the standard he sets every week that stands out. He leads by example, always demanding more of himself and lifts those around him.
His efforts on and off the field is what makes him such a respected captain and such an important part of Leopold.
Burg, you should be incredibly proud tonight, I know us here at Leopold FNC could not be anymore proud of you.
Congratulations, A fantastic footballer, an outstanding captain, and most importantly, a bloody good person.
