Does anyone else feel this constant pressure to have everything together?
Not even pressure from anyone else. Although I’d be lying if at times I didn’t feel that.
But it’s mainly me. It comes from ME.
It’s this internal expectation that I should be able to run a successful business, be a good mum, have a happy and connected marriage, keep the house somewhat under control, be a good friend, train, keep on top of the kids and everything they need, remember all the things, organise all the things… and somehow do all of it well.
And logically I KNOW that’s ridiculous 😂 but when one of those things starts slipping, my brain doesn’t seem to care about logic.
It goes straight to you’re not doing enough… you need to get your s**t together.
When business is busy and going really well, I give so much of myself to it and then suddenly I look around and the house is an absolute s**t show, or I realise my marriage hasn’t had enough of me, or there are things with the kids that need more of my attention.
And while I share a lot of my life on here and I think I’m pretty open about the fact that I absolutely do NOT have my s**t together but you also only see tiny pieces of someone’s life online.
And behind those pieces, I’ve had a really fu***ng hard year. Really truly, a few hard years.
There’s been grief, losing both of my grandpas, things with my kids that have taken up a lot of my heart and my head, personal things, marriage things, business things… just life things.
And I wonder sometimes if when life has felt a little out of my control, I’ve responded by putting even more pressure on myself to keep everything else together.
Like if I can just be better, do more, stay on top of everything and make sure everyone and everything is okay… then I’ll feel okay too.
But far out, that’s exhausting. 😩
I just wanted to share this because maybe there’s another mum reading this who is carrying that same invisible pressure.
Who is doing SO much, but still goes to bed thinking about everything she didn’t do.
Who has things in her life that are going really well, but somehow still feels like she’s falling short somewhere else.
