NBL1 WOMEN’S HEAD COACH APPOINTMENT

Coach Derrick Washington Jr. joins the Eastern Suns as Women’s Head Coach for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. He is bringing over 10 years of international coaching experience across six countries, including NBA and WNBA player development.

Most recently, Derrick helped the Casey Cavaliers men reach the playoffs for the first time in club history as Lead Assistant Coach in 2026. 🏀 PROUD TO ANNOUNCE OUR INAUGURAL SUMMIT ELITE ACADEMY ATHLETES 🏀

These athletes have been selected for their talent, potential, work ethic, coachability and commitment to becoming the best version of themselves — both on and off the court.

The Summit Elite Academy has been created to provide a genuine high-performance pathway between WABL and NBL1, giving young athletes the environment, opportunities and support to take their game to the next level.

This is just the beginning.

We’re incredibly proud to welcome our inaugural athletes and can’t wait to see what this group achieves together.

Welcome to Summit Elite. Your journey starts here.

Over the coming weeks and months I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible, hearing your stories, and learning more about what makes the KDBA community so special.

My door is always open, so please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I look forward to being part of the journey ahead.
