🏏 PLAYER PROFILE – #144 REECE “TUBBS” BOOTHROYD 🏏

Next up in our Player Profile series is #144 Reece “Tubbs” Boothroyd!

An extremely talented all-round cricketer, Tubbs can take apart a bowling attack with some seriously clean hitting, run through a batting line-up with skilful swing and seam bowling, and is a safe pair of hands anywhere in the field with an absolute rocket arm! 💥

Tubbs spent more than 25 years with Hazelbrook before making the move to Leura when the club folded — and we’ve been very lucky to pick up some great former Hazo opponents over the years. Tubbs is certainly one of the best!

His career highlights include a huge 137 at Top Reserve, multiple 5-wicket hauls, including 5/16 in a Grand Final, and winning the Western Zone Plate with the Cattle Dogs.

He also had the small matter of playing alongside Brian Lara in a WSU charity game! 😳🏏

But perhaps what says the most about Tubbs is what he loves about cricket — playing with mates, learning from those who came before him, having a beer, having a laugh and not taking things too seriously.

As Tubbs puts it:

“Fight it out in the middle, but don’t take it too seriously, have a beer, have a laugh and you’ll enjoy it a lot more.”

🏏 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! 👨‍👧‍👦🏏
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! It seems only fitting that today’s Player Profile is one of the fathers of Leura Cricket Club — #3 Brendan “Hoges” Hogan.
One of the founding fathers of the club, Hoges is probably the main reason we’re still here today. From that first season, he’s been at the heart of keeping LCC going, on and off the field.
And what a cricketer he is! An incredibly versatile player who is always good for a handy 30 and a couple of wickets — although his career bests tell an even better story: 86 in a huge partnership with his “forever partner” Creany, and a ridiculous 5/9 against Hazelbrook in 2018! 😂
Hoges’ favourite cricket memory? Making Leura’s first Grand Final — a journey that taught him that sometimes winning isn’t everything.
Off the field, Hoges is the heart of the club. He’s had plenty of battles trying to keep our “pests” in line, but as he says, he still loves them all! ❤️
And his philosophy is pure Leura:

“Play with your mates and you’ll enjoy the game more.”
And finally, the ultimate measure of a good Saturday:
“30 odd and/or a 2fa is all it takes to make a good day out!” 😂

🏏 PLAYER PROFILE – #4 Tim “Tippa” Ayers

Next up in our player profile series is another LCC Original — Tim “Tippa” Ayers!

An outstanding cricketer who, on his day, could tear apart bowling attacks with aggressive batting, rip through batting line-ups with his fast bowling, and get inside the opposition’s head with a quick wit and even quicker tongue! 😂

From Wentworth Falls ,the Cattle Dogs, and Leura, Tippa has left his mark everywhere he’s played.

Back-to-back First Grade premierships, a First Grade hat-trick, the Jackson Shield in 2016 and plenty of other silverware feature among the highlights — but for Tippa, it was always the mates, the laughs and the unforgettable dressing-room stories that mattered most.

And as for his advice to the next generation…

“The best sledge is the one that makes the batsman change something that wasn’t wrong.”

Everyone has a Tippa story. 😂🏏

🏏 PLAYER PROFILE – #63 Peter “Pudd” Evans

While we wait for some more profiles to be sent.....

Next up is Peter “Pudd” Evans, our 1st Grade skipper (because he answers his phone) and Club President (because no one else wanted the job!).

A senior cricket veteran since 1997 and a proud Leura Butcher since 2013. These days he’s primarily a leg spinner (they sometimes spin) and slip fielder (because he can’t run anymore!). 😂

The session is open to any 9, 10 or 11-year-olds who are interested in playing cricket this season — whether they’re completely new to cricket or already planning to play! 🙌

👉 Just come along, have a hit, bowl, catch and have some fun!

It’s a great chance to come down, meet the coaches and players, and see what junior cricket at LCC is all about.

LEURA CRICKET CLUB – JUNIOR CRICKET EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST 🏏
Leura Cricket Club is excited to announce that we are entering two junior teams in the NDCA competition this season and we are looking for a few more players to complete our squads!
🔴 UNDER 12s – 4 spots available
📅 DOB: 1/9/2014 – 31/8/2015
⚫ UNDER 11s – 4 spots available
📅 DOB: 1/9/2015 – 31/8/2016
Younger players who fall outside this date range are also welcome to register their interest.
💰 Registration: Approximately $160, including:
👕 Playing shirt
👖 Playing pants
🧢 Playing hat
🏏 Equipment will be available for players to use, so you don't need to have your own gear to get started.
📍 Games will be played on Saturday mornings, with venues ranging from Faulconbridge through to St Marys.
