πŸ¦₯ MEET THE CREW BEHIND THE CREW! πŸ’œ

Our Paddler Development Team (PDT) is back for the 2026/2027 season! πŸ™ŒπŸ½

After a cracking first year, we’re stoked to have four of our original PDT members back:

πŸ’œ Andrew Wong
πŸ’œ Anya Johnson
πŸ’œ Jon Hanlon
πŸ’œ Shona Stewart

And joining them this season:

πŸ”₯ Claire Hosegood
πŸ”₯ Marcio Martins

That’s six experienced paddlers bringing plenty of knowledge, perspective and paddling experience to the team.

The PDT is all about helping our paddlers get better, from refining technique and building confidence to understanding the finer details of dragon boating.

Think of them as another layer of support alongside our coaches, captains and sweeps. Got a question? Want some feedback? Not sure how to improve something? Ask them! πŸ‘ŠπŸ½

At Sloths, we’re big on paddler development and sharing knowledge, and we’re lucky to have a crew willing to give their time and experience back to the team.

Welcome to the PDT, Claire and Marcio! πŸ’œ

And welcome back, Andrew, Anya, Jon and Shona! πŸ‘πŸ½

Now let’s get better, paddle harder and have some fun doing it. πŸ‰πŸ’œ

MEET OUR HEAD COACH πŸ”₯

We’re proud to announce that Christopher β€œZeus” Alexandrou will continue as the Head Coach of Sloths Dragon Boating Club! πŸ’ͺ🏽

Zeus brings an extraordinary level of experience, knowledge, discipline and motivation to our club. A highly accomplished paddler and coach, his achievements include induction into the Australian Dragon Boat Hall of Fame in 2024 and the International Dragon Boat Federation Hall of Fame in 2025. πŸ†

But it’s not just the accolades that make Zeus the coach he is. His approach is about pushing athletes to perform at their best while building resilience, discipline and confidence along the way. His philosophy is simple: challenge your athletes, protect them, and help them grow through setbacks.

That combination of experience, high standards and genuine investment in athlete development is exactly what we value at Sloths.

We’re excited to have Zeus leading the way as we continue to raise the standard, challenge ourselves and chase bigger goals together.

Welcome back, Zeus. We’re ready for another big season. πŸ¦₯πŸ”₯πŸ’ͺ🏽

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! πŸ¦₯πŸ’ͺπŸ½πŸ’œ

To our Sloths boys and all the amazing fathers out there, today we celebrate your strength, not just in the boat, but in everything you do for your families.

True strength is showing up, leading by example, protecting, supporting, and being there through the good days and the tough ones. πŸ’ͺ🏽

May you continue to be the strong foundation your families can always lean on, and may you still have enough strength left to smash a few paddling sessions with us! πŸ˜‚πŸ€žπŸ½

Happy Father’s Day to all the strong dads out there! πŸ₯³πŸ’œπŸ¦₯

Looking back, that weekend was something special. The energy, the noise, the races, and everything in between. AusChamps was more than results. It was the full experience.

Early mornings. Pool sessions. Beach walks. Team dinners, grocery runs, bus rides, sideline cheers, and quiet recovery moments. These are the parts that brought us closer and made the whole campaign unforgettable.

We showed up, raced hard, and backed each other all the way. Going head to head with the best in the country and doing it together is something to be proud of.

These results didn’t just happen in one weekend. They reflect a strong campaign across the entire season. The consistency, the work behind the scenes, and the belief we built along the way all led to this.

Looking forward, it is about carrying this momentum into what’s next. Reset, recover, then build again with bigger goals ahead.

Grateful for the journey.
Proud of this club.

Always a Sloth πŸ’œ
