What a big day for the Revive team with horses out and about everywhere. Boss lady Rebel Morrow was in charge of the Fluff at Fig Tree while myself and Emlyn Kerr tackled the Queensland Off The Track OTT Dressage Day at Logan Village Riding Club with a couple of newbies. Em has had a pretty rough couple of weeks and can no longer ride her horse so she’s been a big help this week and taken over the reins on “Harry” while I rode “Tony”. Both horses far exceeded our expectations, coped with the competition atmosphere and smashed the results out of the park!! Harry won both tests to take out the championship while Tony was bridesmaid both times to take out the reserve championship. What a great achievement for both horses on their first day out competing. Many thanks to Em for joining me at 6am every morning this week to put Harry through his paces… the hard work paid off 💪🏻💪🏻

Another day… another impressive OTT. This time is was Harry that got to strut his stuff. It was the first time boss lady Rebel Morrow has had a sit on him and wow she was impressed. We both were!! What a little jumping machine you are Harry!! 😍😍

Just when I think OTT’s can’t surprise me anymore…. Enter Miss Maggie!!
Decided to take Maggie to Gary Lung ‘s today because I knew he would love her and she absolutely smashed her lesson out of the park!! Only just beginning her equestrian life and she nailed leg yielding, “stretchy stretches” and her canter leads. So much great footage it was hard to pick what was the best. Such a quick learner 😍

Tony and Marvin got a visit from Liv at Excel Equine Therapy today to release any aches and pains they may have from their racing days. Having them feeling good helps the retraining process so much. Tony was such a snuggler Liv could hardly get her work done because he just wanted pats 🤭😍

Sparky headed off to his new home in Canungra last week, much to the absolute delight of Sophie!!
Sophie and Sparky hit it off instantly and after the final tick of approve from coach Charlotte it was all systems go. I was especially happy with Sparky as he’d never been to TEG before and with a new young rider aboard he didn’t turn a hair and did absolutely everything that was asked of him. Sophie and Sparky are going to be an awesome combination in the future and the sky is the limit for them. What a great result 😍

Next on my newbie list is an absolute sweetheart 😍😍 “Maggie” raced as “Unleash” for the Geran Racing partnership. Thanks so much to Corey, Kasha and Samantha Bird for organising such a beautiful mare to come down to me. I really threw her in the deep end and she was 1st Emergency because one of the other newbies had pulled a shoe so no way was she ready to do some jumping but she took it all in her stride anyway. Both myself and Rebel Morrow aren’t really mare people but Maggie… as Rod Stewart says “you stole our heart” 😂😍

Jimmy headed off to his new home with India late last month. He was such a popular man with many enquiries, especially a lot of young teenagers. I’m always a bit hesitant to let my horses go to the young riders because even though they have been exposed to so much they are still relatively green horses. A great way to see if the horse and rider partnership is going to work is by getting the girls to have a lesson with a coach. It’s an unbiased opinion and it’s a bit of piece of mind that the horse and rider will suit each other. India came and had a lesson on Jimmy with Rebel Morrow at Judith Park and put Jimmy through his paces around the xc course. It’s the perfect way to see how the girls will handle the horse out in the open space while also getting some great advice from the boss lady. I highly recommend getting a coach’s opinion, whether it’s mine or yours their expertise is priceless when deciding if this is the right horse for you. 🦄

Absolute highlight of my week was getting an update on my old mate Homehill yesterday. Homehill (Jimmy - yes I know another Jimmy) was one of the first OTT’s I retrained back when my son was a newborn (he is now 11 🫣). Jimmy was a marvel a true point and steer job and within 18 months won EA Event Horse Of The Year and tackled 1*. Training racehorses got in the way so Jimmy has had a couple of homes in that time but has won Powerball in his new home with Liv and her dad Luke. Luke called me when searching for a new horse for Liv and at the time I told him the horses I have at the moment would be too green for her, however I do know of a horse that is currently for sale that is an absolute cracker as I retrained him and I’m a bit miffed why he’s been for sale for so long 🤔
24 hours later Luke sends me a picture of Liv with her new horse Jimmy!!! Liv and Jimmy have been partners since the start of the year and they have been absolutely killing it and winning so many things… and ticking off a lots of firsts for Liv, including tackling the 1.25 at the Ekka. Yesterday Liv and Jimmy came 5th in the hotly contested 1.10-1.15 at Caloundra and 1st OTT. What a bloody ripper he is and the ultimate OTT pinup boy 😍😍

I took Sparky to see Gary Lung today and I knew he would love him. First thing Gaz said was “OMG how pretty is he!” 🤭
We practiced an exercise for canter leads that is great for the OTT’s. When they are straight off the track they are always a bit sticky one canter way so this exercise is great for them to learn about canter leads and if they are as smart as Sparky they pick it up very quickly. Sparky got an A+ for ex*****on and effort today!!
