We're back with our Spring Introduction to Permaculture Course. If you've been wanting to do this course but can't make it on a week day, this is the one for you!

By popular demand, the Spring 6 week course will be on a Saturday morning, making it available to enthusiastic Permies who have to work during the week. This doesn't happen very often, so grab your spot ASAP as it's sure to book out fast. The Introduction to Permaculture course will run every Saturday morning from October 3rd - November 7th so it's just in time to roll out a productive and beautiful permaculture garden this Spring.

Whether you're at the beginning of your gardening journey, already harvesting kilos of food, or just keen to understand Permaculture a little better, this course will open up a world of possibilities and connections! Many past course participants join our amazing volunteer gardening community, and stay connected via the Permies @ The House page. We love the friendly, welcoming community that's built up around Permaculture, and love gathering each week in our amazing new gardens.

Connect with like-minded others and learn about the Ethics and Principles of Permaculture. In this short course we explore a wide range of subjects from soil and seed raising to connecting with community and supporting diverse ecosystems in your backyard.

Topics covered include:
- soil
- water
- pollination
- growing vegetables
- companion planting
- site analysis
- planning for annual & perennial systems
- composting & worm farms
- seed raising
- food forests
- foraging and much more.

This is a subsidised course (an absolute bargain at $100 / $50 concession!!!) as it's offered in partnership with Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre Inc. PLUS there will also be funded places available to local residents who can offer volunteer hours in our garden.

Homeschooling your child and looking for connection?

Introducing our new Homeschool Community Group!

MMMCH is excited to welcome a new group for homeschooling families, giving children the opportunity to make new friends, play and connect, while parents can share stories, ideas and experiences, and support one another.

The group is currently meeting at Macedon & Mount Macedon Community House on Wednesday mornings from 10am–12pm, making the most of our beautiful, light-filled space. As the weather warms up, there will also be plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy our gardens and lawn.

Is it time to stop drinking? Or perhaps just cut back?

MMMCH is proud to be hosting an AA Information Session on Thursday 1 October at 7pm at Macedon & Mount Macedon Community House.

A member of Alcoholics Anonymous will be there to share some insight into what AA is, what they do (and don’t do), and how AA can support people who are thinking about changing their relationship with alcohol.

Whether you’re considering stopping drinking, would like to reduce your drinking, or simply want to learn more, you’re very welcome to come along.

VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR THE BOLOBEK GARDEN FAIR

Fancy a day at the beautiful Bolobek Gardens with FREE ENTRY as a thank you?

MMMCH is looking for volunteers to help at the Bolobek Garden Fair on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October, between 10am and 4pm.

There are three shifts each day, so you can lend a hand without giving up your whole day:

9.30am – 12noon
12noon – 2pm
2pm – 4pm

We need volunteers for:

Gate – welcoming visitors and helping at the entrance
Garden/Fair Security – walking around the gardens and Fair grounds and keeping an eye on things
General Assistance – supporting our volunteers, SES and stallholders with drinks, snacks and food

Bolobek generously donates money from the Fair to MMMCH, so by volunteering, you’re helping support our Community House while enjoying a lovely day at Bolobek.
