Woke up this morning realising it’s Mother’s Day.
With two little girls who don’t yet know what that means, and I absolutely don’t expect them to carry the responsibility of knowing. So instead, I hugged them tightly, told them it was Mother’s Day, and thanked them for making me a mum.
When you’re a single mum with very little support, there’s often no one there to truly see or acknowledge how much you do. The mental load, the love, the exhaustion, the constant showing up.
Coming from a very traumatic childhood, I am so proud of myself for breaking the cycle of violence, silence, and abuse. For always being my daughters’ safe place. For guiding, not controlling. For allowing and encouraging them to be their authentic selves. For helping them see their magic and know their worth.
So today, I’m reminding myself that I am valued and important. That being a good mum doesn’t mean being perfect, it’s about being real. Messing up sometimes and apologising for it. It’s okay to be perfectly imperfect.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there, especially the mums who are healing from their own childhood, reparenting your inner child while raising children. I see you. You are valued, loved, and so deeply important. ♥️✨🌼
