Life Member Cairns Rugby League Referees 2008
Frank Mitchell began his refereeing career in the 1980s and continued to the 2000s. Frank was awarded Life Membership to the Cairns Rugby League Referees in 2008.
As a referee coach, Frank's commitment and love of the game continued through to 2015.
Frank will be remembered for his dedication to rugby league in the Cairns district and his hometown of Innisfail.
We pass on our sincerest condolences to Frank's family, friends and Innisfail Rugby League community.

VALE John ‘Toppy’ Topp
09 July 1964 - 29 May 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John "Toppy" Topp.

John has been well-known and respected in the Rugby League community, having been involved in officiating for over 42 years. He was active both on-field and in his coaching and had a passion for the development of referees.
John has been a major influence in the career paths of many match officials and was a well-regarded referee in his own right.
John's Achievements Include Major Milestones (on-field and coaching):
*Refereed QLD Cup games - QLD Cup Referee No. 3
*Refereed QRL State League
*Refereed QLD v NSW Residents
*Refereed QLD v NSW U19
*Refereed City v Country
*Refereed over 200 A Grades in Brisbane from 1988 to 1998
*Refereed 5 Brisbane Reserve Grade GF
*Awarded Life Membership of the Brisbane Rugby League Referees Association in 2002
*Coached & coordinated at Regional, State & National schoolboys & QRL carnivals since 1996
*Mentored match officials at all levels of the game
*Foundation member of the Men of League (now known as Family of League) since 2002.
John played a critical role in the development of all match officials throughout Queensland and Australia, positively impacting many both professionally and personally. His influence was critical to match officials across the country.

We extend our sincere condolences to John’s family, friends, and the Rugby League community.
Members are encouraged to honour the memory of this great man and his dedication to referee development by wearing black arm bands across the coming weekends matches.
His loss will be felt deeply.

The rollout of the re-accreditation will be the same as 2023, the courses will be automatically allocated to eligible participants and available within their Learning Centre.
