Last weekend several MAC athletes & their families made the long trek out to Longreach to compete in the Outback Sunset carnival.

The athletes produced many fantastic performances, with several PBs & medals won across the board.

Well done to all athletes!

A trio of MAC athletes ventured down to a chilly Ballarat for the Australian Cross Country Championships, where they laced up the spikes on a difficult muddy course.

📣REMINDER: EARLY START FOR CLUB DAY TOMORROW - 12:30pm arrival, 1:00pm start

A reminder for all Mackay Athletics Club members that tomorrow’s club day is starting early. Please make sure you arrive at 12:30pm for a 1:00pm start for events.

Set up for club day is the 5, 6 and 7 year age groups. Parents, please arrive at 12pm to assist with setting up the equipment.

And a reminder that there is high jump and throws training available for members and day visitors tomorrow, starting at 11:30am. Please make sure you arrive a little earlier so the sessions can start on time.

A great session of long jump training🏃‍♀️🦘

Last Saturday, our athletes had the opportunity to work with Paul Hallett, one of our local accredited athletics coaches, who provided some great coaching on some fundamentals of long jump.

The session focused on learning the correct position in the air and landing position, helping athletes understand how to set themselves up for a stronger and more effective jump.

Thanks to Paul for sharing his knowledge and helping our athletes develop their skills! 👏

📣Club Day Tomorrow Afternoon!🏃‍♀️🤩

We have another fun and exciting Club Day coming up tomorrow afternoon, 1:30pm arrival, 2pm start.

Set up is 10’s and 11’s age groups. Please arrive by 1pm to help set up at the shed or the clubhouse.

Javelin training at 12:30pm before club day with Kevin. Come on down to improve your technique and see if you can improve your PB at club day.

📸 One of the highlights of this year's Mackay Track & Field Carnival was having a dedicated photographer on hand to capture the action across the weekend.

A huge thank you to Brad Lenahan, who generously volunteered his time to photograph the entire carnival. Over the two days, Brad captured an incredible approximately 11,800 photos, showcasing the determination, dedication and fun of the carnival. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

On behalf of Mackay Athletics Club, thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 Mackay Track & Field Carnival such a success.

To every athlete who travelled to compete, every parent and supporter who cheered from the sidelines, our dedicated officials, tireless volunteers, committee members and helpers who worked behind the scenes before, during and after the carnival – thank you. Events like this simply couldn't happen without you, and we are so grateful for the time, energy and enthusiasm you gave over the weekend.
