Mackay Athletics Club

A small contingent of Mackay athletes, some young (& some not so young) headed to Townsville for the Festival of Athletics.

Some highlights from the younger set:

Nate ran PBs in the 100m (12.86s) & 200m (26.01s), also collecting gold medals for his age group.

Ruby competed in a huge 7 events, collecting PBs in the high jump and 200m.

Well done Nate & Ruby!

We encourage all club members to join us next Sunday 21st June for the North Mackay Interclub Club Day at the Pioneer High School Athletics Oval.

Interclub events are a great opportunity for athletes to compete in a fun, friendly and supportive environment against athletes from other clubs across the Mackay Region. Interclub competitions build confidence, competition experience, and familiarity with competing at different venues - valuable preparation for school carnivals and athletics competitions.

REMINDER - HIGH JUMP TRAINING TOMORROW BEFORE CLUB DAY, 12:30pm-1:30pm

We are excited to have Paul Hallett joining us this Saturday to run a High Jump training session for Mackay Athletics Club members before our club day.

If you would like to participate, please arrive at the track a little before 12:30pm. The session is free for all full members and day visitors who have registered to participate in this weekend’s club day.

Come along and learn some tips and tricks to improve your high jump technique, and then try for a PB at club day afterward!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone down at the track again tomorrow for club day.

On set up tomorrow is the 10 years and 11 years age groups. We ask that parents of the 10 and 11 years athletes arrive at 1pm and meet our committee members at the green shed at the rear of the track to help set up the equipment for the day.

MAC athletes ended day 1 of the Bowen Athletics Carnival by competing in relay teams across the junior, intermediate & senior divisions.

Day 5 Kevin Galea Gold Javelin 32.44m, Tammy Meyer Bronze Hammer 18.90m and Toby Rule Senior 5000m 5th 16.02.23 min.

Kevin Gold 2867points PB
and Tammy Bronze 1683 points just shy of a PB.
