π Well done to local Mackay umpire Col Morris on umpiring at this weekβs National Indigenous Cricket Championships.
Col is the only local umpire involved in the tournament, working alongside umpires from across Australia in what is a fantastic opportunity and great recognition of his efforts in cricket.
A great achievement for Col and for Mackay Cricket. Congratulations Col! π
Thinking about taking up umpiring in 2026/27?
Send Mackay Cricket a message for more details.

What an exciting achievement for local Mackay cricketer Dharmini Chauhan, who has joined the Queensland Indigenous Womenβs team during the latter stages of the National Indigenous Cricket Championships. π
Due to work commitments, Dharmini was unfortunately unable to take part in the full tournament, but Mackay Cricket is thrilled she has been able to represent Queensland across matches on Thursday and Saturday.
Dharmini continues to make a strong impact in local cricket as captain of the Gibbs Air & Refrigeration Crocs in the Komatsu Ladies T20 Smash, while also representing Magpies Cricket Club.
Her selection comes off the back of a fantastic representative season, where she was deservedly named the Mackay Whitsunday Open Womenβs Player of the Year at last Friday nightβs awards.
Congratulations Dharmini on this outstanding achievement, and all the best for the remainder of the championships. πͺ

π What an incredible moment for ex-Mackay Cricket player and current Great Barrier Reef Rays player Mitchell Doolan, who has been named the 2025/26 Peter Burge Medal winner for Northern Suburbs District Cricket Club.
To leave home at just 15 years old to pursue a cricket dream in Brisbane takes courage, belief and commitment. To now be recognised with this prestigious award is a wonderful reward for the journey Mitch has been on.
There would be some very proud parents and grandparents watching on with this one. A special achievement for Mitch and a moment well worth celebrating.
Congratulations Mitch Doolan on an outstanding honour. π

To have two former Mackay players recognised in a Team of the Year is a fantastic achievement and a great reflection of the quality of cricket they continue to produce.

π Congratulations to Tracee Williamson and Grace Warcon on their selection in the Queensland Indigenous Womenβs Team for the National Indigenous Cricket Championships at Harrup Park.
Both players are currently representing Queensland on home soil, with the side opening the tournament yesterday with a win over South Australia before taking on Western Australia where they unfortunately lost.
A special mention to Tracee, who produced a brilliant innings of 47 from just 27 balls against Western Australia in a strong display with the bat.
Mackay Cricket Association is proud to see Tracee and Grace competing at this level, and we wish them both all the very best for the remainder of the tournament.
