Before GM Carmela Hartnett, one of Our Maddington Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan Australia Head Instructors was an Interational Poomsae/Forms Champion she was an International Kyorugi/Fighting Champion winning many international medals. Maddington Oh Do Kwan Instructor GM Carmela has returned from the 2026 World Hanmadang Championships with a Gold Medal. The championship held at the Kukkiwon in Seoul, Korea saw 4,200 competitors from 62 countries competing. GM Ross was the Coach for the Australian team which won 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. Oh Do Kwan member Andrette Chua also competed although not winning a medal did well in progressing through three matches against Pakistan, China and France in one of the biggest divisions at the competition. GM Carmela defeated athletes from Australia, Canada and Germany on the way to the Gold Medal.

Good luck to our Oh Do Kwan Members attending the World Hanmadang Championships in Korea as part of the Australian Team and our members atteding the Heroes International Championships in Thailand as part of the club team.
The Hanmadang will see GM Ross Hartnett as the Coach for Australia and Maddington/Riverton Oh Do Kwan Instructor GM Carmela Hartnett and Maddington member Andrette Chua competing.
The Heroes Championship will be led by head instructors GM Anita Tippet and Master Shahida Hill with members from Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan Port Kennedy, Leeming and Canningvale Oh Do Kwan.

Congratulations to all the Oh Do Kwan Competitors, Coaches, Referees and volunteers who participated in Kyorugi on day 2 of the State Championships. We made it the double winning both Kyorugi and Poomsae 1st Place teams trophies. Well done everybody.

Congratulations to all Oh Do Kwan members who competed in the 2026 WA State Championships in Poomsae on Saturday. A big thank you to our Poomsae Referees and Competition volunteers who helped make the competition possible. The Competition saw competitors from 15 Taekwondo academies representing 50 + club branches participating. Oh Do Kwan were again the most succesful club placing first overall.
1st Place Team Trophy Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan with 53 Gold Medals - 24 Silver Medals and 22 Bronze Medals.

GM Ross and Carmela Hartnett spent a succesful three days at the Oceania Presidents Cup, Australian Open and Oceania Championships on the Gold Coast. GM Ross was a National Team Coach at the Event, while GM Carmela competed. GM Carmela won three Gold Medals in Individual events and recieved Two Gold Medals in Team Events. GM Carmela also received a 9.133 score on one of her poomsae, which was the highest scoring poomsae for the Oceania Championships. GM Carmela continues to exibit the excellence of Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan.
