🔴⚪️ THROWBACK THURSDAY — THE COMEBACK KINGS! 👑⚽️

This week we’re diving back into the archives to relive one of the greatest comebacks in Wanneroo City history! 🦘🔥

⏪ Circa 2014 | State League Division 2 Reserves

⚽ WANNEROO CITY 4–3 KINGSWAY OLYMPIC ⚽

Picture the scene…

A local derby against our neighbours from across the park. Bragging rights on the line, plenty of pride at stake, and absolutely everything going wrong for the Roos! 😬

HALF-TIME: WANNEROO CITY 0–3 KINGSWAY OLYMPIC. 😳

Three goals down. Heads dropping. The game looking well and truly finished.

But football is a game of two halves… and what happened next was nothing short of remarkable! 👀

Following what can only be described as a rather rousing half-time team “discussion” 🤬🤣, the Roos emerged from the changerooms like a completely different side!

The tackles were flying, the intensity lifted, and suddenly the impossible started to look possible.

⚽ 3–1 — A glimmer of hope!

⚽ 3–2 — Surely not?!

⚽ 3–3 — THE ROOS ARE LEVEL! 🤯

With the clock ticking down and a draw already feeling like an unbelievable achievement, Wanneroo weren’t finished.

ENTER NATHAN SMITH! 🦸‍♂️

In the dying seconds of the match, Smithy popped up with the winner to complete an absolutely extraordinary turnaround!

⚽🔥 FULL-TIME: WANNEROO CITY 4–3 KINGSWAY OLYMPIC! 🔥⚽

From 3–0 down at half-time to winning 4–3 against our neighbours. You genuinely couldn’t script it!

Just look at the scenes in this photo! 📸🤣

These are the moments that make grassroots football so special. The passion, the friendships, the local rivalries and the stories that are still being told more than a decade later.

❤️🖤 THE COMEBACK KINGS — TAKE A BOW, LADS! 👑

👀 NOW, WHO REMEMBERS THIS ONE?

Were you on the pitch that day? In the dugout? Or lucky enough to witness the comeback from the sidelines?

We’d love to hear what was said in that half-time team talk! 🤣👇

And can anyone confirm the exact year?

Once a Roo, always a Roo! 🦘❤️🖤

🔴⚫ COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT | ASA SIPPITS JOINS OUR STATE LEAGUE RESERVES COACHING TEAM! 🦘⚽

Wanneroo City Soccer Club is delighted to announce that Asa Sippits will join our State League Reserves coaching setup as Assistant Coach for the 2027 season! 👏🔥

A familiar face around Players Place, Asa has been an important part of our senior playing group over the past few seasons, earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike through his leadership, commitment and passion for the game.

A natural leader on the pitch and someone our young Roos can genuinely look up to, Asa brings a wealth of football experience and a fantastic understanding of what it takes to compete at senior level.

Having spent many years involved in WA football, including spells at Dianella and other State League clubs, Asa brings valuable experience to our coaching ranks.

Importantly, coaching isn’t new territory for Asa! Having previously coached our U18s side while continuing to represent our First Team, he’s already demonstrated his commitment to developing the next generation of footballers at Wanneroo City. 💪

As we return to State League football in 2027, we’re excited to see Asa working alongside Reserves Head Coach Blake Hotson, forming a coaching partnership that will play an integral role in the continued development of our talented young players.

With Blake and Asa working together, we’re confident our Reserves program will continue to provide a strong pathway for young Roos aspiring to make the step into First Team football.

Wanneroo City Soccer Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Pilcher as our State League U18s Head Coach for the 2027 season! 👏🔥

For Steve, this appointment is more than just another coaching opportunity it’s a continuation of a journey that started right here at Wanneroo City! ❤️🖤

Having grown up at the club and proudly worn the red and black throughout his junior playing days, Steve went on to pursue his football journey overseas, spending time with clubs in the UK before eventually returning to Perth.

Now back where it all began, Steve has been leading our U18s JCL Division 1 program, helping develop the next generation of young footballers and continuing his strong connection with the club.

As we prepare for our exciting return to State League football in 2027, Steve will step up to join our senior State League coaching structure, taking charge of our U18s program.

His understanding of the club, passion for developing young players and personal journey through the game make him a fantastic fit for what we’re building at Wanneroo City.

Our ambition isn’t just about success at senior level it’s about creating a genuine pathway for our young Roos to progress through the ranks and into senior State League football. 💪⚽

And who better to help lead that journey than someone who once walked that very same pathway himself!

❤️🖤 THROWBACK THURSDAY — KEITH SAIT, A TRUE ROO LEGEND! 🦘⚽

This week’s Throwback Thursday celebrates a man whose dedication, loyalty and love for Wanneroo City Soccer Club have helped shape our club for more than four decades — Life Member Keith Sait! 👏

⏪ THE STORY BEGINS IN 1983…

Keith’s journey with the Roos began in 1983, when Wanneroo appointed former Southampton FC star John Sydenham as Player/Coach.

Having known John back in England, Keith heard about his appointment and decided to join Wanneroo City beginning an association that would span more than 40 years! ❤️🖤

Keith quickly became part of the Wanneroo family, supporting the First Team and pulling on the boots himself for our Masters side.

And what a Masters team it was! Featuring names such as Mickey Quayle, Redmond, Gunning, Rowlands and Vardy, the side enjoyed considerable success, collecting several trophies along the way. 🏆

🦘 MORE THAN JUST A SUPPORTER…

While many will remember Keith from the sidelines, his greatest contributions often happened behind the scenes.

For decades, Keith was one of those invaluable club people who simply got things done.

⚽ Preparing and setting up the grounds on match days.

👕 Managing, organising and even washing the playing kits!

🎟️ Running the famous Golden Goal raffle.

🤝 Serving on the club committee on and off for approximately 30 years, supporting the club through numerous changes in leadership.

❤️ Giving countless hours of his time to help Wanneroo City grow and succeed.

No job too big, no job too small just an incredible commitment to the club he loves.

In a 2022 interview with fellow Life Member Dave Udy, Keith reflected fondly on those early years, remembering the family atmosphere and how warmly he was welcomed when he first arrived.

He also spoke proudly about watching the club develop, its facilities improve and the next generations of Roos come through.

That is what being a club legend is all about.

Not just the trophies, the results or the moments on the pitch, but the people who dedicate years of their lives to making sure the next generation has a club to call home.

Keith, from everyone at Wanneroo City Soccer Club, thank you for everything you’ve contributed to the Roos over the years. 👏❤️🖤

📸 OVER TO OUR ROOS FAMILY!

Who remembers Keith running the Golden Goal raffle? Or perhaps you played alongside him in the Masters back in the day?

We’d love to hear your stories and memories of Keith in the comments below! 👇
