Tomorrows Balaklava Racing Club Cup is always a big day on the SA racing calendar. Tomorrow our 6x winner of over $300,000 KIRKLISTON BLU returns for his 6YO campaign.

The stable has an excellent record in the Cup with ROADWORKER winning n 2007 with Adrian Patterson and 10x winner STEEL MY HEART running 2nd in 2009 ( Patto again ) and 3rd in 2007 with Michael Hoppo

The 2009 edition was one to remember with it taking the champion ALCOPOP (53kg) the final stride to run down STEEL MY HEART (55kg) before going on with his fabulous career

May tomorrow add another magnificent chapter to this great SA event !

We welcomed the first foal of the season this morning with this gorgeous son of Lofty Arch x Quiddick - congratulations to connections 🙌

Lofty Arch was a debut winner of the Listed Gothic Stakes and retiring after a 4th start 2nd in the G3 Zeditave. He is the son of super sire Snitzel (161 stakes winners of over $275 million)

Quiddick was a 3x winning race mare

📣 **A New Chapter for Barood – Welcome to Empress Park Stud**

We are delighted to announce that **Empress Park Stud** has acquired **Barood**, who will stand at Narrung for the **2026 breeding season**.

Following a private agreement with **Rosden Park**, Barood will commence the next chapter of his stud career at Empress Park Stud, where he will stand at the advertised service fee of **$3,300**.

From the first time we saw Barood, we believed he was a stallion with tremendous untapped potential. When the opportunity arose to purchase him, it was one we simply couldn't pass up.

A beautifully bred son of **Choisir**, Barood is a **full brother to Champion European Sprinter and internationally successful sire Starspangledbanner**. He combines an exceptional pedigree with outstanding conformation, athleticism and temperament—qualities we believe are being reflected in his progeny.

Although only a small number of his offspring have reached the racetrack, we have been encouraged by everything we've seen so far. We believe Barood has all the attributes to develop into a sire of genuine significance, and we are excited to play a role in that journey.

The 4YO daughter of SHAMUS AWARD is a relatively new addition to the stable and she has done a fantastic job for 2 wins from her 4 starts since arrival
