March 20th/21st 2027 …pre Easter Extravaganza at Wood Dojo …JKA KDA WA Instructors will be invited by Wood Shihan to teach during this weekend of training and preparation for our JKA May 2027 Gashuku and Tournament ….we have a wealth of knowledge and experience in JKA WA and Wood Dojo and we look forward to spotlighting our high ranking JKA instructors and dojo heads from 2nd and 3rd Dan all the way up to 4 th 5th 6th and 7th Dan and JKA accredited A B and C licensees in Instruction Examination and Judging …most importantly we have our own WA resident JKA Shihan Kai member JIM WOOD SHIHAN MBE who holds special rights to grade to SANDAN …apologies to those who we have been omitted from the photos …you will be added soon with CV’s.

Busy Year ahead in 2027…the….The 4 Chief Instructors of the 4 JKA authorised groups in Australia, Keith Geyer Shihan, Jim Wood Shihan, Jason Naylor Sensei and Phil Young Sensei have agreed on the date for the National Selections for the Australian team for the JKA Funakoshi Gichin Cup planned for 2027 in Japan. The date for National selections is the weekend of Saturday 6th March 2027 in Melbourne. Further details coming soon.
Jim Wood Shihan will be scheduling regular special training seminars and judges seminars at Wood Dojo in preparation for the selections on 6th March 2027.
Wood Shihan has also scheduled a special weekend of training at Wood Dojo for all students during the weekend of March 20th/21st with Dan and Kyu Grading/Sh*tei and Sentai Kata training on Saturday 20th March and Kumite and judging training on the Sunday 21st March this is scheduled just before the Easter Weekend and WA school holidays…This special training weekend in March at WOOD DOJO is for ALL students as well as those selected for the National squad and those who will be competing in our JKA Rules Tournament in May 2027 and/or those attempting Grade Examinations and Accreditation examinations with OGURA Shihan and NAKA Shihan at our May MASTER CAMP 2027.

Great Seminar with Wood Shihan this morning…preparation for gradings and National Selections…Wood Shihan’s theme was the trinity of Kihon Kata and Kumite…with emphasis on ‘kamae’ preparedness for any eventuality whether at gradings, competition or life in general. Without consistent and regular training we cannot be prepared mentally or physically…Sh*tei Kata should be practiced everyday ..50 times minimum each day…
Monday Heian Shodan Tuesday Heian Nidan and so on … this was Wood Sensei’s advice for mental and physical health and improving technique…and for all students whether attempting Kyu or Dan gradings or selections for National Squad… ‘you can’t fatten the pig on market day,
