Just found out this afternoon that a gorgeous soul and dear friend Sarah passed away on her birthday on Saturday. She had reached out recently to catch up and do an Access Bars swap but I had a cold, postponed and never followed up💔 Birthdays can be a particularly hard time of the year with memories, loneliness and thoughts of the future.🫂🤍

For most of my life I’ve felt alone and facing life’s challenges by myself. I rarely reach out for help. When I have reached out I often have not felt seen, heard or understood. I’ve been met with quick fixes when I needed empathy and compassion. The systems that are meant to be supportive have not felt supportive. I’ve felt like I have needed to hide what I’ve been going through.
Since I was a young child I’ve listened to the deep grief and heartaches of family, friends and strangers. I see pain in people’s eyes. I offer what I seek the most. What is often overlooked for quick fixes. Co-regulation and being truely witnessed in one’s distress has been documented in research to be deeply healing.
