Some memes to celebrate that our Yin Yoga Teacher Training starts TOMORROW! 🥹✨
Our 4th generation of Yin Yoga teachers is about to begin their journey! 🌀🤍
We can’t quite believe this is our fourth Yin Yoga Teacher Training! What started as an idea has now grown into something so special — a beautiful little lineage of Yin teachers, each bringing their own experience, curiosity and magic to the practice.
Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing little glimpses of what’s happening behind the scenes, the learning, the laughs, the practices, the connections and everything in between.
So if you love Yin, fascia, TCM, philosophy, deep conversations and watching people willingly spend several minutes in the same shape… stay tuned 👀
Generation 4… LET’S GO! 🖤🌿

Sometimes we feel like we don’t have enough time.
We imagine that to really practise, meditate, breathe, or slow down, we need to make it a WHOLE THING. Find the perfect time, create the perfect space, roll out the mat… and somehow fit it into our already crazy routines between work, school drop-offs, meals, errands and, well… life.
But what if it’s just 15 minutes?
And here’s another thought: maybe you already have 5 minutes. You might think, “I do a 5-minute meditation every morning.” And yes! That IS great. 🤎 Please don’t read this as “you’re not doing enough.” You are practising. You are showing up. And that matters.
But… what if you added another 10 minutes?
Some research on the Relaxation Response suggests that it can take around 12–15 consecutive minutes for the physiological changes associated with the response to occur. So maybe, just maybe, give it a go. Stay a little longer. Sit for another 10 minutes. Breathe. Be quiet. And notice if something changes.
Because honestly… 10 more minutes of silence is actually good news. 😂
And maybe those extra minutes don’t need to be another thing on your never-ending to-do list. They can simply be a little pocket of time in your day to pause, breathe and come back to yourself.
We hope this little piece of information helps you, inspires you, and maybe encourages you to find those 15 minutes a day.
And if you already have a 5-minute practice… keep going. Maybe just experiment with adding a little more and see what happens.
We love you! 🤎

We all have different bodies. So it makes sense that we have different bones. Pretty obvious, right? And yet, somehow, we don’t often think about it.
Instead, we compare the way our bodies move to our friends, our teachers, our peers, or that yoga influencer we follow. We expect our poses to look the same. But if our bones are different, our joints will move differently. Our ranges of motion will be different. And, naturally, our asanas will look different too.
As you look through these images, notice the anatomical variations. For example, if your hip socket points forward and down, while the socket of your teacher points more sideways and is nearly horizontal, your hips are going to move differently — and your bodies are going to create different shapes.
These are normal anatomical variations.
These images, shared freely by Paul Grilley at https://paulgrilley.com/bones, beautifully demonstrate why no two people will ever do a yoga pose in exactly the same way.
So perhaps sometimes it’s not that you’re “not flexible enough.” Perhaps your bones are simply built differently 🤷🏽♀️
You can practise for years and still never make your body look like someone else’s. And pushing harder isn’t going to change your bone structure.
So keep practising. Listen to your body. And observe without judgement.
Let your practice be based on what you feel, rather than how the pose looks.
Because even if you can’t put your leg behind your head, you are still moving through the movement your body is capable of.

A little reminder that our donation-based Community Yoga Class is on every Wednesday from 4–5 PM 🤎
It’s the perfect way to try out a class at the studio, connect with our community — and, if you’re looking to save a little money… hehe, we got you! 🫶
These classes are voluntarily taught by teachers who are new to the area or new to teaching, with 100% of the donations going directly to a charity chosen by the guiding teacher.
And if you’re a yoga teacher and would love to lead one of our Community Classes, just send us a message! We’d love to make it happen. ✨
Come join us, bring a friend and practice with us 💛
With love,
Swell Yoga Studio 🧘♀️

This is a conversation starter. We’d love to hear what you think, so if you feel like it, share your thoughts in the comments.
There is, of course, no right or wrong answer. We’re simply curious. Curious to hear different perspectives, learn from one another, and explore all the possibilities together.
Because we believe there is so much to learn when we create space for different points of view — and when we continue to question, explore and evolve within this beautiful, ever-growing world of yoga.
And if you’re not keen on commenting, that’s completely okay too. Maybe this is simply a question to sit with for a while. Or perhaps one to take to your yogi friends… or your non-yogi friends!
So… what do you think?
Yoga is not everything… but perhaps it can be anything?
Okay… let’s see where this takes us 👀
