The Margaret River Hawks would like to acknowledge the achievement and congratulate one of our up and coming stars, Hayden Wynd.

Hayden has been part of the WACA Indigenous Cricket Program for the past two years and was selected last November as one of just 14 players in the Aboriginal Talent Academy.
Hayden has been travelling to Perth each week to train at the WACA. Hayden was then selected to represent Western Australia at the National Indigenous Cricket Championships in Mackay, Queensland.
Competing against teams from across Australia and Papua New Guinea.
The WA men's team went undefeated and secured a Grand Final victory.
Reward for your hours of dedication, and we look forward to seeing your game only get stronger in the years to come.

Reminder to all that we have our Presentations coming up this Sunday as well as our 16s will also be playing in their Grand Final on the same day.

16s Grand Final starts at 9am followed by our junior Presentations at 12:30pm
We have Live music that will start between junior and senior Presentations.
Senior Presentations commence at 2:30pm with live music to continue afterwards.

Let's be sure to get down to the Nest early and support our 16s, before celebrating the past season. Let's get there in big numbers and really make a whole day of it.

There will be a Lamb on the spit, loaded baked potatoes, roast chicken and more available on the day (no charge)
There will also be drinks available to purchase at usual bar prices on the day.

Our B grade side will be taking on Vasse today, down at the nest, for a spot in the Grand Final.
The game starts at 12:30pm. Be sure to get down and support our Hawks.

With the cricket season nearing the end, it also means we have our Presentation night coming up. So be sure to lock it into your calendars and join us as we celebrate the past season and recognise those individuals who had a stand out season as well.

What an incredible few weeks for our Hawks! 🔥🏏

Here’s a wrap up of our recent Margaret River Burger Baby Player of the Match legends — and what a group they are!

🍔 Margaret River Burger Baby POM Round-Up 🍔

Stage 1 Green – Monty Phillips (Round 11, 14th Feb)
Monty’s first ever match of cricket and he played superbly! Facing some formidable bowling, he showed outstanding awareness, contributed with bat and ball, and even stepped up behind the stumps. Most importantly — he’s absolutely loving his cricket!

Stage 1 Maroon – Jonah Hughes
With a huge run chase ahead, Jonah stepped up in style. A personal best with the bat, two cracking fours, sharp running between wickets, and constant improvement with his bowling each week. An inspiring performance!

Hawks Stage 2 Green – Gordon “Gordo” Noakes
So close in recent weeks and this time he grabbed it! Gordo’s batting and bowling have gone to another level, and his leadership presence on the field shines every game.

Leroy Stage 2 Gold
Set the standards from the top in a great team win. Electric in the field, consistent with the ball, and reliable with the bat. Plays his role perfectly week in, week out.

16s – Leo
Outstanding spell of 3/7 off 4 overs with 2 maidens (nearly 3!). Beautiful line outside off stump making scoring nearly impossible. A dominant bowling display.

Stage 2 Green – Lennox Yates
Against tough opposition, Lenny’s character stood tall. Supportive, enthusiastic, and lifting his teammates all game. A solid batting performance and true Hawks spirit on show.

Stage 2 Gold – Reef
Energy personified! Loudest in the field, always positive, always improving. A career-best 25 with a huge six capped off an unforgettable innings — the smile said it all!

Stage 1 Maroon – Jon Till
A decisive win and Jon led from the front. Lightning in the field saving countless runs, two wickets, and a great catch at deep square. A complete performance.

Special Mention – Hugo Ensor
What a weekend! Caught and bowled, two clean wickets, another sharp catch, then smashed a six first ball and added four more boundaries. Now just 5 runs shy of 200 for the season — outstanding consistency!

We couldn’t be prouder of this group. Skill, improvement, leadership, energy and true Hawks spirit across every team.

Match report

A grade had a day to forget on Saturday. Well batted to Jacob and Hayden on an important partnership.

Well done to b’s and c’s on their wins. Great effort by Jack Green on his ton and huge congrats to plugga for reaching 450 games.

Round 13 Match Report – Hawks B Grade v Saints B Grade
Churchill East – One Day

The Hawks B Grade side returned to Churchill East in Round 13 and walked away with a hard-earned 12-run victory, defending 7/258 to bowl Saints out (well… almost) for 9/246. It was a proper one-day scrap — runs on the board, wickets at key moments and just enough drama to keep everyone pacing along the boundary.

Batting first, the Hawks got themselves into a strong position thanks to a steady start and one serious launch sequence in the middle overs.

Bailey Groves set the tone with a classy 58, finding the rope nine times and keeping things ticking over nicely. Michael Earl, in his 450th game for the Hawks (yes, 450 — we checked, and it’s apparently an association record for one club), chipped in with a fluent 31 at better than a run-a-ball. Not a bad way to mark a milestone — turn up, find a few boundaries, carry on like it’s game 37.

After a small mid-innings wobble, Mathew Cocivera decided enough was enough. His 87 from 54 balls — featuring eight fours and six sixes — shifted the game firmly in the Hawks’ direction. It was controlled aggression… with a heavy emphasis on aggression.

Danny Weston added a handy 35, and some late composure from Vishnu Venugopal and Blake Gillam helped push the total to 7/258 off 45 overs — a score that always looked just awkward enough to defend.

Defending 258 was never going to be straightforward, but the Hawks bowlers stuck to the task.

Manning Smith struck early, Vishnu Venugopal kept things tight, and Danny Weston produced a crucial three-wicket spell just when things threatened to drift. Then Cocivera decided batting runs weren’t enough for one afternoon and grabbed four wickets to cap off a genuine all-round performance.

There were sharp hands in the field as well — Blake Gillam taking three catches, Jimmy Green busy behind the stumps, and solid support all around. The pressure built steadily, and while Saints hung around, they were always just that little bit behind the rate.

In the end, the Hawks closed it out, restricting the chase to 9/246 and securing a 12-run win.

A brief but worthy mention to Michael Earl’s 450th game in Hawks colours — an extraordinary milestone and a testament to durability (and apparently very good recovery routines). To notch up that number for a single club is rare air, and to celebrate it with a win makes it even sweeter.

A strong total, a dominant all-round display from Cocivera, disciplined bowling when it mattered, and another tally in the win column.

The Hawks march on.

HAWKS C VS YOBS ACADEMY

WESTERN HARD WICKET 21st feb 2026

Hawks Super C Grade hosted Yobs Academy in what loomed as a must win for both teams.

Yobs won the toss and elected to bat.

Starting strongly Barty Simpson looked to impose himself on the hawkers bowlers digging in well. Drake the Snake and Condor Prossor went into overdrive and it was Drakey who struck first. Spiritual leader Boof Cochi took an absolute screamer to set the tone for the match!!! Drake continued with great control and put on a masterclass hitting the stumps again to dismiss Kai French. Drake finished with figures of 2/24 off 8 overs. First Change was Leo who had the yobbies on the back foot straight away! A great line and length and took a great wicket smashing Jordan Lullfitz stumps! All the Hawks bowlers worked hard with great spells from Vigil, Sonny and Coen Marter. Coen has quickly developed a cult following and was rewarded with his first C grade pole! would have been 2 if the captain did not grass a tough chance at gully. Hawks restricted Yobs well but they also batted well to reach 180 odd.

Hawks went out to bat and Jordan Lullfitz was on point. Dismissing Connor and Drakey he was on a hat trick when Greeny came out. The captain Willliams threw his wicket away after looking good, guiding a wide short ball straight to cover. Then Sonny came out and the Hawks went to work. Digging in with guidance from Jack the pair put on a partnership of 75 with both players hitting 360 degrees. Sonny knicked off for an important 25.

Out Came Leo the Lion. Again benefitting from leadership from Jack these two literally had a ball, Leo defending and attacking, Jack started to hit to all parts of the ground.

Jack finished with 108 and has committed to C grade for the entirety of next year!
