Congratulations go to our 19th finisher (and 1st female finisher) this morning - Genevieve Trevaskis - for finishing her 250th parkrun event!
Genevieve started parkrunning back in April 2014 (that's before there even was a "Maribyrnong parkrun") and 204 of Genevieve's 250 events have been at Maribyrnong, topped up with 46 tourist events at 16 other parkrun locations in Victoria, NSW and the ACT.
Along the way, Genevieve has racked up a very impressive 20 PBs and while this year she may not match her highest annual total of 39 events (set back in 2018), she's already recorded her highest ever age grade as a parkrunner. She's also been a versatile contributor to parkrun as a volunteer, taking on the pacer, number checker, funnel manager and finish tokens volunteer roles.
Congratulations Genevieve - welcome to the parkrun 250 (green t-shirt) Club!

This morning we had 465 people start their Saturday at Maribyrnong for event #553. There were 21 fresh faces doing their first ever parkrun, and 70 new personal bests recorded.
Thank you to our volunteers for making the event possible.
Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Maribyrnong parkrun results page.

We're still looking for a photographer for tomorrow (August 29), and a volunteer to do "post-event close down" (take the equipment home after the event and prepare it for the next one, mostly a matter of sorting the finish tokens).
If you can help with either of these roles, please comment, send us a message or email [email protected].

Today we celebrated 12 years of Maribyrnong parkrun.
Across 551 events, Maribyrnong has recorded 144,819 finishes by 20,369 different people, supported along the way by 1,053 different volunteers.
Behind those numbers are thousands of Saturday mornings, friendships, milestones, first 5ks, PBs, coffees and conversations. And behind every one of those Saturday mornings are people who make sure the event can actually happen.
Today, as we celebrate everyone who has been part of Maribyrnong’s story, we also want to recognise two people who have made an extraordinary contribution to it: our Co-Event Directors, Chris Wootton and Stuart Hilton.
Chris has volunteered on 278 occasions, completing 267 volunteer tasks across 15 different roles. That includes 54 pre-event setups, 49 as Run Director, 35 as marshal, 32 post-event close downs, 26 barcode scanning and 23 timekeeping — along with finish tokens, First Timers Welcome, funnel managing, token sorting and more.
Among more than 1.1 million people who have volunteered at parkrun worldwide, Chris ranks 4,956th — placing him in approximately the top 0.45% globally.
Stuart has volunteered on 225 occasions, completing 159 volunteer tasks. He has been Run Director an extraordinary 77 times, as well as completing 45 pre-event setups and 23 post-event close downs, alongside photography, barcode scanning, First Timers Welcome and other roles.
Stuart ranks 8,894th among more than 1.1 million parkrun volunteers worldwide — approximately the top 0.8%.
Together, that’s 503 volunteer occasions.
But even those extraordinary numbers only tell part of the story.
Being a Co-Event Director is so much more than putting your name on the volunteer roster on a Saturday morning. For years, Chris and Stuart have committed to making sure Maribyrnong happens, week after week.
There are the countless hours most parkrunners never see: working with council, sponsors and parkrun; planning and organising; responding to issues; supporting volunteers; solving problems; and doing everything necessary behind the scenes so everyone else can simply turn up on Saturday morning and walk, run, volunteer and be part of the community.
An event reaching its 12th anniversary doesn’t happen by accident. It takes an enormous community, and today we celebrated everyone who has played a part in Maribyrnong’s story. But it also takes people prepared to carry the responsibility for keeping that community going.
In addition to Chris and Stuart, we also want to explicitly acknowledge all of the Run Directors from the past 12 years. The Run Directors are the people in charge on the day. We also want to thank everyone who has ever volunteered, participated, advocated for or recommended Maribyrnong parkrun. Collectively, this is your event and your success.
Chris and Stuart, thank you for the hundreds of Saturdays, the countless unseen hours and your extraordinary commitment to making Maribyrnong parkrun happen. 💚
And now we’d love to hear from you. What does Maribyrnong parkrun mean to you? Share a favourite memory, moment or story from your time at Maribyrnong in the comments — whether you’ve been here from the beginning or joined us somewhere along the way.

Join us tomorrow morning at the normal time to celebrate our 12th year at Maribyrnong parkrun and kick off our 13th.
If you'd like to dress up, the theme is "M" for Maribyrnong (things starting with the letter M).
