Did you know?
Trugo originated at the Newport Railway Workshops in the 1920s, when railway workers turned discarded train buffer rings and mallets into a lunchtime game.
And just like that, Trugo was born!
A unique piece of Melbourne’s west, bringing people together for generations.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined the Footscray Trugo Club Open Day on Sunday 30 August. More than 100 people, aged from 4 to 80 years old, came along to explore the facilities and have a “tonk”!
Attendees were also treated to a history lesson from Victoria Trugo Association President Paul Thomas, who shared stories of the sport’s origins and its emergence from the West’s rail yards.
