Barkly Street Uniting Cricket Club We are one of the longest running clubs in the City of Maribyrnong.

Currently we are fielding 5 senior mens and womens teams as well as junior teams for boys and girls from Under 11’s upwards.

1. Full name and nickname? Shannan Stevens - Shaggs
2. How long have you been playing cricket? Off and on since 1986. More off than on
3. What got you into cricket? Initially playing at school. As an adult - my boys.
4. What’s your favourite fielding position? Anywhere I can see the ball. Mid-on seems the safest at this stage of life
5. Who’s your favourite professional cricketer – past or present? Dean Jones
6. What’s your walk-on song? My REAL one is not really printable but TISM fans will know. The safe version is Land of Confusion by Disturbed (it’s my batting state of mind)
7. What’s one thing people might not know about you? I beat Mark Phillipoussis as a tennis junior
8. What do you do outside of cricket? I am a Life Insurance Adviser, but most of my time is spent trying to keep track of 2 teenage boys # # 😂 Club Banter
1. Who’s most likely to turn up late on game day? Jenno
2. Who has the worst cricket skills but the biggest ego? Jenno
3. Who’s the biggest sledger in the team (of either opposition or own teammates)? He’s a quiet achiever but I’ll say Mangles cuts deepest. We don’t sledge opposition unless they are a Trimboli
4. Who’s most likely to drop a sitter? Jenno (then daylight to the rest of the BVs!)
5. Who’s the biggest pest in the team? Trigger
6. Who’s most likely to blame the pitch for getting out? A bit hard on syntho, but we all tend not to blame anyone but ourselves in the BVs. We know our limitations!
7. Who spends the most time talking about their innings? Webby
8. Who’s most likely to forget their cricket gear? We’re pretty good like that, but I’m most likely to have forgotten SOMETHING
9. Who would you least want to share a room with on a trip away? Hulk. He likes to cuddle. Lots

No wicket or cricket due to the rain this weekend but a wonderful cross sectional gathering of Vets, Baby Vets, ‘Occasionals’ and First XI players to set up the club rooms for the season ahead. The balance of ‘stock the fridge’ versus ‘empty it’ and cricket war stories to work ratio was spot on! Love a club that can get the catering sorted with Amanda Lee-Lally sporting the new branded apron… hopefully the new cricket shirts arrive soon?! 😂🤷🤞🐉🔥
