/ / McDonald’s Sunshine Coast March Athlete of the Month Award goes to Jude Brimelow for his performances at Australian Schools Triathlon Championships and Oceania Junior Championships

When talent meets confidence. What can I say the belief that he has gained this season and the way he is running off the bike was on full show in the “A” Final. To lift and go to another level. With 2 laps to go I said do you want a medal… it’s just there. That was enough to unleash the beast and land himself on the podium. The best ex*****on of a race to date.

There is so much potential here. His commitment and hard work over this season have allowed this result. Well done Jude. Proud of what you have shown this season. A testament to your character. Full results below from 4 days of racing backing up on the Tuesday post Oceania Junior Triathlon Championships where he placed 14th a massive leap from his 35th place the prior year.

1st Place Aquathlon
2nd Place Single Leg Relay
1st Place Mixed Team Relay
4th Place Super Sprint Race 1
6th Place Super Sprint Race 2
3rd Place “A” Final - Bronze Australian Champs

To lift and go to another level. With 2 laps to go I said do you want a medal… it’s just there. That was enough to unleash the beast and land himself on the podium. Grace lined up in the junior Girls and from a coaching perspective the experience she gained from the 4 days of racing showed with making the “A” Final being at the bottom of age category. She learnt from her mistakes from the previous 3 days of racing and executed it in the final. Well done Grace full results from the 4 days of racing below.

Oceania Continental Sprint Triathlon Cup also doubling as the Australian Elite Sprint Champs for and .sienna08 lined up in their first ever Elite race as Juniors. It was a great experience for them both to see where they are at that next level at the / Luke Harrop Memorial

There was extra incentive for both these young ladies with a bet from Coach Toby Coote with a breakfast on the line. Let’s say Toby has to buy both ladies Breaky now.

Great swims from both saw them exit just behind the lead swim pack. Both rode strong in the second pack on the bike and by the 3rd lap they had caught the leading pack. Out onto the run and both ran strongly to move up a few positions.

An auto selection spot was on offer for the Australian Junior Team. Top 5 Elite and 1st Junior was the task.

Hannah had a great day out to get that spot. A Junior World Championship berth awaits. After the last 2 years of just missing selection it is a great reward for hard work and determination.

Result
Hannah - 5th Elite / 4th Australian Elite Sprint Champs / 1st Junior + World Selection
Sienna - 14th Elite / 10th Australian Elite Sprint Champs / 3rd Junior

Well done Team Po***ck and Team Carter. One very proud Coach and huge congrats from the SCTA Team

Devonport was the location for the Oceania Junior Champs. It was a little chilly for the / and McDonalds Sunshine Coast Athletes as they raced over the Sprint Distance draft legal format.

In the Junior Females we had and .sienna08 line up and both got away to a good start exiting the water in close proximity to the lead females. Hannah made the jump to the front pack while Sienna couldn’t get the wetsuit off quick enough and missed the front pack. She rode strongly in the second pack but couldn’t bridge the gap. Hannah rode strongly but couldn’t break the group up. Onto the run and both ladies had strong runs. Hannah 🥉 on the podium narrowly missing an auto spot for worlds and Sienna ran herself into 11th spot in her first go at this level.

was next up in the Junior Males. A good swim for him mid pack and a strong transition set him ip in the 3rd chase pack. He rode strongly and set up for a good run. He had been in impressive run form from Qld Schools Tri and bought that across. He run thru a few athletes to finish 14th up from his 35th place here last year.

Sunday saw the Mixed Team Relay where Hannah led off and nailed her race by being the first female back for the tag. Their team went on to finish 2nd while Jude was last member of his Team. They were lapped out on his bike leg.

Well done to the SCTA Juniors. A huge thanks to Team Po***ck, Team Carter and Team Brimelow for the help and support over the weekend. Greatly appreciated.

Awesome work from today at the WPTS in Devonport this morning. A cracking swim set up a 2:30 lead out of the water. A strong ride on a technical 6 lap bike extended the lead to 3:30 off the bike and a solid run set up a win by 2:30 to claim top step on the podium.

It was Grace’s first race back since world champs last September. A big thanks to for their support. A great starting point for the year ahead. Well done Grace
