Over the weekend a few of our club members entered the QLD championships. The terrain near Samford would have suited mountain goats a lot better but despite this we managed to bring home some prizes.
Firstly in the Sprint run at Pine Rivers SHS Brendan Henry, Taria Smyth and Gary Flynn all came 1st in their age groups.
Franklin Smyth 2nd in M12 and Ulla Heikkila and Becky Flynn 3rd place.
In the Overall Championship we had 5 first place getters and well done to
Taria Smyth, Janelle Schafer, Mark Petrie, Eric Smyth and Trevor Sauer.
In 3rd place Ulla Heikkila, Franklin Smyth and Kathy Petrie. Congratulations to everyone one .

I wasn’t the only one who ran over time last night and lost points. Good course setting tempts you into getting just one more control . Thanks Iian

The Queensland Orienteering Championships are for everyone — whether it’s your first event or you’ve been navigating for years. There are courses for all ages and abilities, so you can challenge yourself at your own level and be part of the action.

As well as age classes ranging from 10–85+, we offer Open classes on Very Easy, Easy, Moderate and Hard courses — so there’s an option for everyone.

It’s also a great opportunity to experience what it’s like at a major event — from the atmosphere to the competition.

Give it a go, explore somewhere new, and see what it’s all about!
