π₯ βBut what if I fall?β
Donβt worryβ¦
The floor has already promised itβll be there for you. π
In martial arts, falling is part of learning.
We fall. We get up.
We trip over our own feet.
We miss techniques.
We make mistakes.
And every time, we learn something new.
The goal isnβt to never fall.
The goal is to get back up a little stronger each time.
(And if all else failsβ¦ at least the floor is reliable. π)

π₯ MOUNT RUSHMORE OF THE 90s TRAINERS π₯
We spend a lot of time talking about the champions of the 1990s. The world title winners. The knockout artists. The hall of famers.
But what about the people behind them?
The men who opened the gym doors before sunrise. The coaches who wrapped hands, held pads, worked corners, drove fighters to shows, and dedicated their lives to building champions.
Without them, there are no legends.
As Fight Rewind continues to preserve the golden era of Australian kickboxing and Muay Thai, we're asking a question that might be impossible to answer...
π WHO IS ON YOUR MOUNT RUSHMORE OF 90s TRAINERS? π
Do names like:
π₯ Dave Hedgecock
π₯ John Scida
π₯ Dana Goodson
π₯ Jamal Hasan
π₯ Joe Hilton
deserve a place?
Or would you replace them with pioneers such as:
π₯ Paul Fyfield
π₯ Phon Martdee
π₯ Bob Jones
π₯ Malcolm Anderson
π₯ Alan Wong
π₯ Stephan Fox
π₯ Bryce Birtwistle
π₯Nick Stone
π₯Nugget McNaught
Maybe we've missed someone entirely.
From Melbourne to Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, New Zealand and Thailand, these coaches helped shape a generation of fighters and built the foundations of the sport we love today.
So let's hear from the fighters, trainers, officials, promoters and fans who were there.
π Who shaped the Australian fight scene in the 1990s?
π Who produced the most champions?
π Who built the strongest gyms?
π Who changed the sport forever?
π Who doesn't get the credit they deserve?
Everyone believes their trainer was the best.
That's part of the game.
But today we're not talking about favourites...
We're talking about the pioneers who helped shape Australian kickboxing and Muay Thai into what it is today.
Who makes your Mount Rushmore?
Who are your Top 5?
And who are we forgetting?
π¬ Let the debate begin.
We want to hear from the people who lived it.
Tag your trainer, your gym, your teammates and the fighters who were there during the golden era of the 90s.

π₯π₯ Agility, Footwork & One-Step Sparring at Mizuchi Martial Arts π₯π₯
This weeks training was all about movement.
Using agility rings, our students worked on balance, coordination, foot placement, reaction time and body awareness before putting those skills into practical one-step sparring drills.
Why is this important?
For many of our NDIS participants, agility and footwork training helps develop:
β
Balance and stability
β
Coordination and motor skills
β
Spatial awareness
β
Confidence in movement
β
Reaction and decision-making skills
β
Focus and concentration
And the best part?
It doesnβt feel like therapy.
It feels like fun.
The agility drills challenge the brain and body to work together while building confidence one step at a time. Then we take those movement skills and apply them to simple self-defence and one-step sparring exercises in a safe, supportive environment.
There were plenty of laughs, lots of learning, and a few friendly body-shot challenges along the way! ππ₯
At Mizuchi Martial Arts, we believe martial arts should be accessible to everyone. Every class is an opportunity to build confidence, develop practical skills, improve fitness and have fun with friends.

π₯Every black belt once stood at the bottom step.
Unsure.
Nervous.
Wondering if they could actually do it.
But confidence isnβt built in a day.
Itβs built through the small wins. Through showing up. Taking one more step forward every class.
Thatβs the power of martial arts. π₯π₯
