Friday Ladies Fixtures grand finals were held at the club on Friday 21st November under sunny skies and played in true sportsmanlike style. Lots of close rallies and long games kept the many spectators occupied and entertained. Thanks to Kent and all the Maroochydore crew for your hospitality and support!
Results:
Div 1 - Mooloolaba Legends 7 sets 47 games def Palmwoods Allsorts 1 set 20 games
Div 2 - Nambour Matchmakers 6 sets 42 games def Coolum Tourists 2 sets 29 games

The weather wasn’t very kind to us for the Friday Ladies Tennis Fixtures grand finals day. Intermittent showers proved difficult for the teams playing on the hard courts and eventually after an hour of lost play and further rain interruptions, the grand finals in divisions in 1 and 2 were abandoned and the teams that finished top of the leaderboard were declared the winners. Congratulations to Ballinger Meteors in Div 1 and Mooloolaba Diamonds in Div 2. We are sorry that the rain interrupted the day, we are sure the runners up Nambour ZTA Allstars in Div 1 and Maroochydore Bluebells in Div 2 would have ensured a great day of tennis, had the sun shone.
Fortunately, the Div 3 teams playing on grass were able to complete their match which proved to be very competitive! Congratulations to Caloundra Skylarks who won by 3 games against the Eumundi Echoes.
There were a great number of spectators who came to cheer on the teams and with thanks to many members of the Maroochydore club, we were able to supply a wonderful morning tea consisting of cakes, slices, sandwiches and fruit.
Don't forget to lodge your nominations for Season 1 2024. Forms available online at: https://play.tennis.com.au/maroochydoretennisclub/Competitions/Fridayladies

Results:
Div 1: Nambour ZTA Novas 6 sets, 45 games def Mooloolaba Magnets 2 sets, 17 games. Unfortunately, an injury in the fourth set of the day culminated in the Magnets forfeiting the remainder of the sets. To that point, the tennis was fabulous and the games close. We hope you recover quickly Nic 😊

A lovely day for tennis yesterday as 3 divisions of Friday Ladies Fixtures played their grand finals. It was a warm, fine day and not without incident but all matches were played in great spirit and there was terrific off court support for the games.
Congratulations to all teams. Results:
Div 1: Mooloolaba Magnets 4 sets, 37 games def Ballinger Meteors 4 sets, 31 games. A close one!
Div 2: Nambas No Faults 4 sets, 35 games def Nambour ZTA Jets 3 sets, 22 games. The Jets' day was marred by an injury to one of the players in the 2nd set 🙁
Div 3: Mooloolaba Martinis 5 sets, 41 games def Gheerulla Gems 3 sets, 36 games. Unfortunately we didn't get a pic of the Martinis team as they rallied to support one of their players who was heat stricken. Hope everyone is recovering well!
Thanks to the Friday Ladies Committee for organising the fixtures and looking after the players. Hope you have great Christmas and holidays. See you all next season!

A lovely day to celebrate not only the end of season, watching some great tennis played in a fair and friendly manner, but also in tribute to Shirley Wallace who has stepped down after 37 years of coordinating the Friday ladies fixture competition on behalf of Maroochydore Tennis Club.
Huge thanks to everyone who turned up today, there was such a lovely vibe around the club and even Shirley said she felt she was being treated like a Queen. We all know she deserves it! Thanks also to Shirley’s husband Stuart and son Greg who have been instrumental in supporting and helping Shirley do the amazing job she has done.
Thanks Shirley, you’ll be greatly missed xx
